Earlier today, Natalie Portman who plays Nurse Jane in the Marvel live action movie THOR, spoke too much and revealed that her friend Kat Dennings is also going to play a role in the movie. Back in July, it was announced that the next gig for School of Rock director Richard Linklater is LIARS A-E, it’s a romantic comedy written by Emma Forest. At the time, the only actress attached to the project was Kat Dennings and now Variety and Hollywood Reporter said Brit beauty Rebecca Hall (Frost/Nixon, Vicky Barcelona) has joined the cast.
Hall is set to play the character Bacall Loomis, a woman who is dumped by her rocker fiancé on the eve of Barack Obama’s presidential election victory. She takes a road trip with a pal (Dennings) during the Obama inauguration to reclaim items that used to be hers from ex-boyfriends
Ok, so what does President Obama’s inauguration have to do with the development of her character of the story except for setting the location and time?!
I gotta tell you this, ya know how it is, when I watch a movie, I’d usually try to think as well, analyzing the acting, observing the cinematography, hearing the dialogue, taking mental notes on what’s decent about the movie and what’ awful about it. Well, I was trying to do that when I was watching Frost/Nixon last year but I got distracted a few times and I’m not saying this because Rebecca Hall is obviously a gorgeous girl but I was specifically distracted by her backside, she was wearing this dress that reveals the perfect skin on her back all the way to the waistline and Ron Howard used that to emphasize her sensuality instead of the usual exposure of breasts or legs… and it worked, my god what a stunning view I tell ya. Sorry, I just had to throw that out in the open that’s all.
The only big regret of not going to Toronto Film Festival this year is that I won’t get to screen the hilarious movie DEFENDOR. We’ve seen the images and now Twitch has the first trailer for the dramedy starring Woody Harrelson as an ordinary guy with no powers who believes he’s a superhero, his psychiatrist and a teenager played by Kat Denning are his only friends. Written and directed by Peter Stebbings. I sense the voice of Batman and Rorschach in this movie.
Reality intersects with delusion in the mind of Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson), a regular man who adopts a superhero persona known as Defendor, and combs the city streets at night in search of his arch-enemy, Captain Industry. In his attempts to combat crime and bring down Captain Industry, a drug and weapons dealer who he mistakenly blames for the death of his mother, Defendor ends up befriending a young prostitute, Katerina Debrofkowitz (Kat Dennings). Armed with unconventional weapons of mass confusion, aided by his new friend, and putting his life on the line, Defendor proves that everyone is capable of making a difference.
