If you don’t know the name Paul Feig, it might ring a bell if you remember as far back as the late 90s because he and best buddy Judd Apatow with a bunch of other wacky friends came up with the short-lived series Freaks And Geeks that gave big breaks to some of today’s comedy movie stars like Seth Rogen, Jason Segel. Hollywood Reporter said that Feig and Apatow will reunite to develop an untitled comedy starring Kristen Wiig… Read the rest of this entry »

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Trailer
Dreamworks Animation has released the trailer for HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, via Yahoo, which you can watch using the media player below. I’m not too impressed with the animation but what’s even more disappointing is Jay Baruchel’s voicework, it doesn’t have character, to say the very least. The movie comes out in spring 2010, and I remember Monsters Vs. Aliens came out last spring, so I wouldn’t be surprised if HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON would give similar result which is.. not that entertaining . The posters are via Impawards, Watch the trailer after the jump and see what you think about it… Read the rest of this entry »
Look At DATE NIGHT First Image
What’s supposed to be a normal date night to rekindle love turns into a race across New York to escape mistaken identity and the Mob trying to kill them and the result is as messy as Steve Carell and Tina Fey in the photo above is via USA TODAY. For the record, Tina Fey is only hot when she has her glasses on. This is the first look from the comedy DATE NIGHT starring Carell and Fey as a married couple, Phil Foster and Claire who become worried for their romance after hearing that their good friends, played by Mark Ruffalo and Kristen Wiig, the couple that’s supposed to be the example of a good marriage, decide to divorce
Directed by Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum), we’ll get to see this awesome collaboration of Michael Scott and Liz Lemon next spring.
DATE NIGHT is about a couple (Carell & Fey) who find their routine date night becomes much more than just dinner and a movie. Mark Wahlberg plays a successful and crazily buff securities expert who flirts with Fey’s character. James Franco portrays a not-too-bright con man and petty criminal. Leighton Meester is onboard as the couple’s babysitter. Taraji Henson plays the one good cop who believes the couple is in danger, and Common portrays a villain. Kristen Wiig rounds out the cast as Fey’s best friend
DATE NIGHT opens April 9th, 2010
PAUL Video Blog: Simon and Nick introduce the story, cast and crew
I’ve seen this weekend’s movies, don’t worry, I’m going to post the reviews soon enough. Juggling too many things on a Friday has its consequences. But before I go and take care of some business. Check out the vibrant video above form whatispaul, a new video blog on the set of PAUL, the new comedy by Brit comedians Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz) about 2 geeks who encounter an alien. Here, Simon and Nick give us a more detailed look at the cast and crew that even reveals funny lady Jane Lynch in character as the Diner lady.
WHIP IT Images And Its Catchy Derby Names
You’re going to have to get used to saying director Drew Barrymore now because she wore that hat proudly with her directorial debut film WHIP IT and USA TODAY has released some new official images from the movie about girls on roller skates starring Ellen Page, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis, Jimmy Fallon, and Barrymore herself. The plot centers on Page as a petite teenage girl who rebels against her beauty-pageant-obsessed mother (Marcia Gay Harden) and boring Texas town by joining the rough-and-tumble world of roller derby under the name Babe Ruthless, which brings us to the coolest thing about this movie, the Derby names.
Barrymore plays a character named Smashley Simpson and Wiig plays her sister named Maggie Mayhem. She was going to be called Malice In Wonderland but I’m glad they didn’t go with that one. Their team, the good guys, is called The Hurl Scouts.
Fallon plays the derby announcer and Lewis gets to be called Dinah Might, the leader of rival derby team The Holy Rollers, who finds out a secret that could force her tiny new foe from the competition. And badass stunt woman Zoe Bell (Deathproof) is Bloody Holly. Screenwriter Shauna Cross, who adapted her own novel DERBY GIRL, is a member of Los Angeles’ Derby Dolls. Derby was popular in the 1970s, with sexy-tough women knocking one another around on a circular track, competing for points and glory. I didn’t know about this but apparently the sport has made a comeback in recent years.
Barrymore had this to say about the movie and being a director for the very first time…
“It’s about small victories,”
“It’s not about just being No. 1 or the best. I know that feeling like you’re in the right place with the right people is one of the most winning feelings you can have. As someone who was all about fairy tales in her 20s and was obsessed with them and loved happy endings, now I’m more about just finding inner peace and honesty with the people around you. A good day is a good day.”
“Everything I’ve learned throughout my whole life has been going into this piggy bank, and I just smashed it all over the floor for this one,”
“I felt pressures that everybody feels, whether it’s inter-office, in high school or a small town,” Barrymore says. “Everyone relates to expectations others have or what the world thinks. Who am I going to become? What am I going to be in this world?”
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I have mad respect for Drew Barrymore. She went through some wild years in her life but then I read once how she would audition all over town to get roles but just couldn’t seem to win one, and so she and her friend started their own Flower Films Production Company that has produced movies like Never Been Kissed, Donnie Darko, Charlie’s Angels, all the way to He’s Just Not That Into You.
I just hope WHIP IT doesn’t fall short like Rollerball (2002)
What would your Derby Name be?
WHIP IT opens October 9th, 2009
Greetings From PAUL
The other day, we were told that there’s a production blog What Is Paul? from the upcoming sci-fi action comedy PAUL from writers/Brit funnymen Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. And now it’s posted an intro vibrant video showing the duo saying hi to you from the film set in the desolate New Mexico.
The second one shows Joe Lo Truglio discusses the efforts of the film’s production to go green by saving on plastic water bottles and cups. And the third one is about Pegg, Frost and Kristen Wiig spending a day learning to drive the film’s featured RV under the watchful eye of ‘Al’.
Keep checking the blog for more updates
