Last we heard, UNDERWORLD 4 will happen in 3D. The third movie last year was a prequel starred Rhona Mitra. According to a recent article in Variety, Sony’s Screen Gem simply titles it UNDERWORLD 3D and Len Wiseman will return to direct. Hottie Kate Beckinsale previously said she didn’t know much about the project, hinting lack of interest because she thinks her daughter doesn’t need to see her bottom in rubber anymore… Read the rest of this entry »

It’s been a long while since Len Wiseman was attached to GEARS OF WAR movie, we haven’t heard much since mainly because they’re still trying to figure out the best way to approach this game based adaptation which has the storyline revolve around the soldiers of Delta Squad as they fight to save the human inhabitants of the fictional planet Sera from a relentless subterranean enemy known as The Locust Horde. Scribe Billy Ray is working on the story using previous drafts by Chris Morgan and Stuart Beattie. Producer Wyck Godfrey spoke to Making Of, describing the idea which includes making it impactful and immediate. Watch the vibrant video after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Underworld

We heard the info this past summer telling us that Sony’s Screen Gems is definitely going to develop UNDERWORLD 4 and it’s scheduled for release in January 2011 and it’s going to be in 3D.  No word yet what format it’ll take (prequel, sequel) and whether or not the stars: Kate Beckinsale, Michael Sheen, Scott Speedman, Rhona Mitra, Bill Nighy will reprise their role in any capacity. There’s been a development, Heat Vision states that one of the writers of one of my favorite series from this past decade, The Shield, John Hlavin has been hired to write the script for UNDERWORLD 4Read the rest of this entry »

Len Wiseman Sees The End Of The World

Len Wiseman (Underworld) proved me wrong by bringing us the hardcore PG-13 intense Live Free Or Die Hard even if its predecessors were rated R. So I’m down with whatever tricks Wiseman got up his sleeves. Hollywood Reporter says Fox has bought a pitch about the end of the world which Wiseman will direct and produce. The current title is NOCTURNE. The story is based on an original idea about “a group of people who survive the end of the world and the mystery surrounding how they got to that position”. Fox is currently looking for writers. Wiseman is also attached to the adaptation of graphic novel SHRAPNEL but turns out that one isn’t quite happening just yet. After the jump, find out why Wiseman is the luckiest bastard on the planet… Read the rest of this entry »

Len Wiseman To Direct SHRAPNEL

Posted by Rama On July - 23 - 2009

Shrapnel Wiseman

We’ve all been there, done that. Entering a comic book store, checking things out, from the old titles to the new and then bam! You stumble upon a particular title that grabs your attention and won’t let go. Suddenly you just got this feeling in your gut that somehow you believe that there needs to be a movie made based on that book. That’s how Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman spends quality time with his daughter. The difference is… our desires remain wishful thinking but Wiseman on the other hand can make his into reality. He’s got the money and the connection, so why the hell not.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Wiseman had his agent who had Josh McLaughlin of the Gordon Co.to buy the screen rights to SHRAPNEL, a Radical Publishing graphic novel. Last year, the company announced the 18-issue, three-series epic. In short, just imagine mankind having authority of all solar system. So all of the planets belong to us, they’re like colonies. It’s like the story of America’s struggle for Independence but more astronomical. A self-exiled former Marine teaches the colonists how to fight back. That last part reminds me of another upcoming blockbuster that has a marine doing something similar (cough) James Cameron’s AVATAR (cough)

Wiseman said the reason why he wanted to develop SHRAPNEL is because he’s interested in stories about a reluctant hero. SHRAPNEL will be a live action feature in 3D.
Wiseman got a lot on his plate, MOTORCADE, scripted by Billy Ray, and adaptation of ATLANTIS RISING, penned by Joby Harold, Dreamworks wants to release it in summer 2011
Wiseman might also direct GEARS OF WAR movie for Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. and he’s producing the sci-fi action/thriller NONSTOP for DreamWorks.
And at night, he gets to bang Kate Beckinsale. Yup, Wiseman got a lot on his plate and life couldn’t be better.

Here’s the official synopsis of the graphic novel series SHRAPNEL
“The story unfolds in a dystopian future in which imperialism has laid siege to the Solar System and Venus stands as the last free colony of humanity. Caught in the middle of this interplanetary war is Samantha “Sam” Vijaya, a soldier in self-imposed exile recovering from her service in the military. When the battle once again crashes into Sam’s life, she must choose to either remain on the sidelines and watch a colony destroyed, or risk her physical and psychological well-being to intervene.”

Len Wiseman’s favorite GAME

Posted by Rama On March - 10 - 2008

Len Weisman and Kate Beckinsale

There’s probably no one luckier than director Len Wiseman right now.
He directed the successful Live Free or Die Hard and he wakes up every morning to the British hottie Kate Beckinsale.
If that’s not lucky than I don’t know what lucky is!

He was supposed to do the remake of Escape From New York but that project failed to take off, he was going to do the movie adaptation of the video game Gears Of War but that one failed to see the light of day too. Both because of pricey reasons.
It don’t matter, cause he still wakes up to Kate Beckinsale!
Lucky Punk!

According to Variety, Len Wiseman’s next project will be SHELL GAME.
It is a sci-fi action thriller about a detective who is faced with a moral dilemma as he investigates the dangerous black-market business of immortality. Justin Bondi and Andrew Ludington wrote the original screenplay, while Wiseman and Chris Morgan penned the most recent draft.
Cool beans!

This is what he said about all this…

“I’ve been wanting to make this film for the past five years, but it’s a huge film and has always been too expensive to make at the level I’ve wanted to make it at,” Wiseman said. “Now I’m finally getting a chance to do it at that level.”

And his lucky streak continues!
