I’m hugely disappointed with Taking Woodstock. I expected more from the Oscar winning director who usually can take us into an emotional heavy drama with great themes and depth to the characters But Ang Lee fell short, Taking Woodstock didn’t even care to explore more than it could, for lack of a better word, in the end it felt like a big Blah. It wasn’t much of a psychedelic joy ride, it wasn’t much of anything come to think about it.
But Riskybusiness chatted with Focus Features CEO James Schamus recently who revealed that there’s a new project Schamus has just begun writing for his frequent collaborator Ang Lee. They’ve collaborated before on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Brokeback Mountain. So this is a good sign because Schamus could possibly steer Lee back to his usual style and ya know what..that’s exactly what Schamus has promised…
“going back to the good old, tragic, suicidally depressing Ang!”
Good!
But if all goes well as planned, Ang Lee is going to bring us the adaptation of LIFE OF PI first.
