MACHETE opens in 2010
I was initially excited about MACHETE, after seeing the hilarious faux trailer in Grindhouse, at the time I had a feeling that a movie version would be blood and guts and gore and all around action-packed fun. But Latinoreview hated the script and now I’m not as enthusiastic about it anymore. Plus seeing the horrendous set photos of cast member Lindsay Lohan running around like an airhead didn’t help either.
But Variety said Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group will do the international distribution for MACHETE, co-directed by Robert Rodriguez. Written by Rodriguez himself, it’s about a former Mexican police officer who turns the tables on the masterminds who double-crossed him. It’s like federale with a vengeance. Because they’ve f*ed with the wrong Mexican!
Starring Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Cheech Marin, Michelle Rodriguez and Rose McGowan.

MACHETE has started filming, the movie version based on director Robert Rodriguez’s hilarious faux trailer in Grindhouse is underway and the cast ranges from Oscar winner Robert De Niro all the way to tabloid’s favorite skank Lindsay Lohan who in this spy photos, via splashnews, was seen wearing a bikini top and a towel on the set, in between takes, while the crew worked on her make up and hair.
The story stars badass Danny Trejo, doublecrossed and bound for revenge, he is one Mexican you don’t wanna f*ck with. Unfortunately, the early script review of the movie doesn’t sound promising. You can read the entire thing over at Latinoreview.
Real quick now, because even though MACHETE is going to be a very ridiculously violent movie but since fans love the faux Grindhouse trailer, the movie version might become the next sleeper hit. Overnight Productions has released a statement that pretty much confirms the recent casting info. It’s a safe bet to say that Robert De Niro isn’t looking to give an Oscar worthy performance with his involvement in this project but hey, ya never know, years ago who would’ve thought that a Joker could win an Oscar.
The official plot is also revealed and every actor has his/her part clear.
The feature version of the trailer finds Machete (Trejo) a renegade former Mexican Federale, roaming the streets of Texas after a shakedown from drug lord Torrez (Seagal). Reluctantly, Machete takes an offer from spin doctor Benz (Fahey) to assassinate McLaughlin (De Niro) a corrupt Senator. Double crossed and on the run Machete braves the odds with the help of Luz (Rodriguez), a saucy taco slinger, Padre (Marin) his “holy” brother, and April (Lohan) a socialite with a penchant for guns. All while being tracked by Sartana (Alba), a sexy ICE agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.
Produced by Rodriguez who is the co-director with Ethan Maniquis, his long time editor. Shooting is gearing up out of Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

There’s been various speculations as to who might be cast in the movie version of MACHETE, based on that hilarious faux trailer within Grindhouse. But Comingsoon.net read the recent article over at Variety that clear things up once and for all, the official full cast of MACHETE is revealed.
Danny Trejo of course is playing the title character, the Mexican you don’t wanna f*ck with, double crossed and bound for revenge, along with Trejo are Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson and Jeff Fahey.
The previous rumor about Jonah Hill’s involvement turned out to be not true but this confirms Lindsay Lohan is in the movie. Her involvement was rumored at twitter not too long ago.
Steven Seagal, what is the world going to do with him? We don’t watch his movies anymore, unless we need to laugh, we don’t even listen to his music, unless we need to laugh. Having said that, he probably has the skills to knock you out with 2 movies. But is he strong enough against MACHETE?
When Rama’s SCREEN was down last week, info hit the web that Jonah Hill and the great Robert DeNiro might join Robert Rodriguez’s new movie MACHETE starring Danny Trejo as the Mexican you don’t wanna f*ck with.
In addition to that, moviehole also said that an offer is being made to the Under Siege has-been, Steven Seagal. At first, Seagal’s reps denied the rumor but then they changed the story, confirming that Seagal might be doing this movie IF certain conditions are met,.. like if he gets to keep his hair and leave his acting at home as always.
