Those of you who’ve seen Vantage Point, Traitor, last season of the series Lost, would recognize the man in the image above, Said Taghmaoui. He’s the dude who played Breaker in G.I. And just like that, according to Vulture, Mickey Rourke got replaced by Ron Perlman (Hellboy, SEASON OF THE WITCH) in the upcoming CONAN reboot directed by Marcus Nispel. I guess we know now which project Rourke might want to do because he was also circling King Hyperion in Tarsem Singh’s WAR OF THE GODS which is expected to start shooting in April while CONAN will be filmed in Bulgaria later this month.
Perlman will play Corin and he’s a single dad.
Perlman joins the cast that includes Jason Momoa as the new Cimmerian fighter, Rachel Nichols as Tamara, Stephen Lang as the villain Khalar Singh, Bob Sapp as Ukafa and Leo Howard as young Conan.
Sean Hood was hired to rewrite the script, he story will have Conan embark on a quest to avenge the slaughter of his people including his father

Gotta make time for hotties! According to Latinoreview, actress Rachel Nichols who played the sexy Scarlett in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra has been cast in CONAN reboot, directed by Marcus Nispel, already starring Jason Momoa as the new Barbarian, Leo Howard as the younger version, Mickey Rourke as the father Corin. Recently Stephen Lang was in talks to play the villain Khalar Singh but we haven’t heard confirmation yet. Turns out, Nichols won the role against other hotties, Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) and Sarah Shahi (The L Word). Nichols is set to play a character named Tamara. Now I’ve never read any of Robert E. Howard’s stories but I wouldn’t be surprised if this supposed R-rated feature will have a sex scene between Momoa and Nichols. Stephen Lang is the epitome of badass! Sure he’s probably going to be playing the same type of military-like character forever but I don’t think he’s complaining. When Col. Quatritch ran out the door into the poisonous air of Pandora just to shoot at Jake Sullly and the gang trying to runaway, I was like ‘holy sh*t! He did not just do that!’. UPDATE!!!: Deadline Hollywood said Rourke is also in talks to play King Hyperion in Tarsem Singh’s WAR OF THE GODS, the ruler of Ancient Greece who does battle with the divines. But CONAN starts shooting in March and WAR OF THE GODS starts shooting April 7th. So scheduling conflict could be a problem, unless Rourke figures out a way and a time to do both.
When Jason Momoa was officially cast as the new CONAN in the reboot movie directed by Marcus Nispel, fellow movie blog Latinoreview also said that Mickey Rourke was in talks to play the father, Corin. Deals went south however and we didn’t hear anything for a while but now Heat Vision is saying both sides went back to negotiating table and it’s officially locked in. Rourke is set to play Corin, CONAN’s father.
Production is scheduled to start on March 15th in Bulgaria but scribe Sean Hood was recently hired to rewrite the script, I’m guessing it’s going to be a fast process for him, not to mention the pressure of deadline that’s going to be a pain in the ass.
