You’ve heard it a thousand times, there’s a superhero project, origin story, either new or reboot and the intention is to capture that same dark tone that Nolan’s Batman Begins had. But not GREEN LANTERN, director Martin Campbell told Collider that Hal Jordan’s character and story will be much like Iron Man. Somewhere Jon Favreau is smiling right now… Read the rest of this entry »

Mark Strong Sinestro

Surprise! Though previous rumor said the studio still wants Jackie Earle Haley to play Sinestro in the live action movie GREEN LANTERN starring Ryan Reynolds, but who does director Martin Campbell want for the role instead? How bout the Brit thesp that’s been in a number of notable movies lately, Mark Strong. Campbell told MTV that they’re in talks to get Strong to play Sinestro,  and that Campbell’s never even heard of talks of getting Haley involved in the project, let alone to play Sinestro. No love for Haley?! that’s harsh, man!… Read the rest of this entry »

Jackie Earle Haley Sinestro

Peter Sarsgaard was recently cast as the villain Dr. Hector Hammond in the live action movie GREEN LANTERN, starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, directed by Martin Campbell. But what about Jackie Earle Haley playing Sinestro? AICN heard about it last year and SpoilerTV said they were looking for male actor in Mid-30s to Mid-40s, smart, tough, intimidating and in great physical shape. Have anything changed? Drew of Hitfix says no, Sinestro is still going to be part of the story but there’s more to it… Read the rest of this entry »

Recently GREEN LANTERN got its female lead in hottie Blake Lively and now it has found the villain Dr. Hector Hammond in Peter Sarsgaard, according to Heat Vision. Remaking Alfred Hitchcock movies is a bit of a blasphemy. Granted, THE BIRDS was my least favorite Hitchcok classic, I thought it was the concept was amusing and I was laughing throughout the entire film, but bringing it for today’s audience doesn’t mean it needs to be modernized, I’m all for an idea of re-releasing all of Hitchcock films in theaters for one week only, that would be an epic event. But alas, the inevitable will always happen and Hollywood is seriously developing THE BIRDS remake. Director Martin Campbell and Naomi Watts were circling the project but Panjiba said that’s not the case anymore… Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve said it a thousand times before that I didn’t grew up reading GREEN LANTERN comic, I’m not really a hardcore fan of the superhero with the powerful ring but those of you who know better might understand why it takes big dollar amount to get the movie right. Production has been moved from Australia because of the dollar problem, word has it filming will start in New Orleans in April 2010 but director Martin Campbell told Empire, via coventrytelegraph that it’s going to take even more work and more money just to handle the VFX alone.. Not too long ago, we heard that GREEN LANTERN hit a road bump because Australian dollar has “blown out production costs” and there were reports that the studio might move the production to possibly around New Orleans area. Hollywood Reporter said it’s been confirmed that WB has pulled the production of GREEN LANTERN out of Australia.
The decision was made because of “the current global economic situation, including fluctuations in currency valuation and overall costs,”
Turns out, the dollar is falling against every other countries currency, not just Australia. GREEN LANTERN will still open on scheduled, June 17th, 2011 but production will move to either Mexico or Canada.
Starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. Martin Campbell will be directing using the script written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.
