Chloe Moretz Talks LET ME IN

Chloe Moretz

Chloe Moretz gave advice that’s a bit wise for her age to Joseph Gordon Levitt in 500 Days Of Summer, she practically stole the show with her confidence and from the looks of the red-band trailer, her hit-girl character in KICK-ASS is going to steal the show as well. But Moretz is involved in LET ME IN, director Matt Reeves‘ Americanization of the brilliant Swedish vampire movie Let The Right One In. Moretz talked to MTV recently about what we can anticipate, mostly about her character Abby and from her explanation, it sounds like she’s not going to go far astray from how actress Lina Leandersson played her character Eli in the original version… Read the rest of this entry »

Mark Pellington To Direct THE ORPHANAGE Remake

Mark Pellington The Orphanage

A couple of months ago, Larry Fessenden revealed that he was no longer attached to direct of THE ORPHANAGE the remake that New Line was developing, due to creative differences, but he still hoped the studio would still use his script that he co-wrote with Guillermo Del Toro who helped bring the original Spanish language version Il Orfanato directed by GDT’s other entourage, Juan Antonio Bayona, a movie that I considered one of the scariest of 2007. Variety says the project now has found itself a replacement director.. Read the rest of this entry »

Smit-McPhee, Moretz And Jenkins Will LET You IN

Let Me In

The remake of Let The Right One In has finally found its cast. I’m having a hard time blogging this, but I need to move past the fact that Cloverfield director Matt Reeves is going to ruin one of my favorite movies last year, so I should just take it like a man. According to Heatvision, it’s been confirmed that Kodi Smit-McPhee, who we can see in The Road this fall, will be playing Owen (Oskar in the original film) and Chloe Moretz, the chatty little sister in 500 Days of Summer and can be seen in the upcoming Kick-Ass, will be playing Abby (Eli in the original film) and Richard Jenkins has also joined the cast as the father/caretaker (Hakan in the original film). Phillip Seymour Hoffman was previously rumored for the role but that turned out to be not true.

The story is about Owen, an overlooked and bullied boy, finds love and revenge through Abby, a beautiful but peculiar girl who turns out to be a vampire.
Th remake is titled LET ME IN, it will start shooting this fall in New Mexico, although it’s initially set in Colorado, and it’s scheduled to open in theaters on January 15th, 2010, that release month should give you an idea of the quality of this movie.

So what if the concept posters for LET ME IN are stylish and actually kinda cool?! Slashfilm has these three images, which you can click to enlarge, of promotional concept that may become the basis for the international one-sheets for Let The Right One In the remake, titled LET ME IN directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield). I hope this will be the case where the posters are better than the movie itself.

Recently it was revealed that the kid from the upcoming THE ROAD movie, Kodi Smit-McPhee as the American version of Oskar. For those of you who may not have seen the original Swedish masterpiece, it was about a kid who made friends with a girl his age but she happens to be a vampire, the movie was a cinematic achievement in my book.
Reeves is going to film the remake in Colorado to keep that snowy environment and LET ME IN is expected to hit theaters in Fall 2010

Let Me In

Real quick now, it makes me sick to my stomach everytime I have to hear about this info mainly because I love the original movie and still can’t fathom why director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield)  just feels like he has to do a remake of Let The Right One In. It’s like remaking The Godfather, it’s an absolute abomination.

Via moviehole, in an interview with The Herald-Sun, the kid who plays the son in the upcoming anticipated adaptation, THE ROAD, Kodi Smit Mc-Phee said that he’s up to star in Let The Right One In remake which will be titled LET ME IN. Though the deal’s not locked in yet, the young actor says the prospect is looking good.

I’m not familiar with McPhee’s acting, I guess we’ll see about it in the fall. LET ME IN is going to be filmed in Colorado to keep that snowy environment and the movie is expected to hit theaters in 2010

Matt Reeves Talks LET ME IN

Matt Reeves Let The Right One In

Of all the remakes info out there, this one pisses me off the most. If you haven’t seen last year’s sleeper hit Let The Right One In (check out my review) I highly recommend you rent the DVD as soon as you can so you won’t miss out on what the sensation was all about. Then you’ll know how perfect that movie is and how it doesn’t need any meddling from Hollywood. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Whatever happened to that good ol saying?
I probably wouldn’t be this upset if a filmmaker like Spielberg or Eatwood is handling the project, but nope it had to be Matt Reeves who was responsible for the crapola Cloverfield, that poor excuse of a disaster flick.
Previously he said that he wanted to keep the setting in the 80s in Colorado. And today he talked again via LA TIMES begging the fans of the original movie to give him a shot…. O I’ll give him a shot alright!

“I was just hooked,”
“I was so taken with the story and I had a very personal reaction. It reminded me a lot of my childhood, with the metaphor that the hard times of your pre-adolescent, early adolescent moment, that painful experience is a horror.”
“There’s definitely people who have a real bull’s-eye on the film,” Reeves said, “and I can understand because of people’s’ love of the [original] film that there’s this cynicism that I’ll come in and trash it, when in fact I have nothing but respect for the film. I’m so drawn to it for personal and not mercenary reasons, my feeling about it is if I didn’t feel a personal connection and feel it could be its own film, I wouldn’t be doing it. I hope people give us a chance.”

I’m sure we’d all give him that chance if Cloverfield wasn’t so godawful! I fear that this remake will give us headaches too with hand-held camera craziness.
Reeves just finished a second draft of the script, with the story set in Reagan-era Colorado because he wants to keep the original story’s chilly, snow-swept environment. He is also working with casting director Avy Kaufman (The Sixth Sense) to find the two child leads, because he doesn’t want it to turn into a Twilight like romance.
The remake is titled LET ME IN, is expected to hit theaters in 2010.

Based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, the original story is about “a fragile, anxious boy, 12-year-old Oskar is regularly bullied by his stronger classmates but never strikes back. The lonely boy’s wish for a friend seems to comes true when he meets Eli, also 12, who moves in next door to him. But Eli’s arrival coincides with a series of gruesome deaths and attacks. Though Oskar realizes that she’s a vampire, his friendship with her is stronger than his fear… Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson weaves friendship, rejection and loyalty into a disturbing, darkly atmospheric, yet unexpectedly tender tableau of adolescence.”
