KICK-ASS Opens SXSW 2010
Real quick now, sadly I’m not going to be attending SXSW this year but if you are, you might find it awesome to know that Matthew Vaughn-directed graphic novel adaptation KICK-ASS is going to be the opening night film on March 12th, 2010 at the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Check the festival’s official website for details. And check out the wicked Hit-Girl redband teaser.
KICK-ASS is the story of average teen Dave (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage), and another fledgling superhero, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But thanks to the scheming of a local mob boss Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong), that new alliance will be put to the test.
KICK-ASS opens April 16th, 2010
KICK-ASS Trailer With Commentary
I’m not a big fan of watching a clip with commentary, it’s always been part of the DVD special features that I’d always skip but if you’re into this style, Premiere In France has this KICK-ASS trailer with commentary by director Matthew Vaughn. Pretty much using the same teaser that we saw recently but Vaughn briefly talked about what drove him into this project. Frankly, it’s not as informative as IGN’s new trailer segment featuring Prince Of Persia. Watch the trailer after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »
KICK-ASS Teaser
This evening has gotten KICK-ASS! Lionsgate did test screenings last week which I didn’t go to and with that they’ve unleashed the first teaser for the adaptation of Mark Millar graphic novel, via the official website. I think Hit Girl is going to steal the show. So you wanna play?! What do you think of Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy? Check out the teaser after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »
KICK-ASS Site Arrives And Trailer Is On Its Way
Real quick now, for those of you waiting on Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s graphic novel KICK-ASS. Lionsgate has launched the official website, IAmKick-Ass.com which starts out with a really cool flash player trip through downtown, leading up to that awesome shot we saw from the character poster yesterday.
There’s a countdown clock that says the trailer will arrive online via MySpace about 8 days from now, so next weekend, get ready to see KICK-ASS trailer which you’ll be able to watch here as well… Read the rest of this entry »
The End Of KICK-ASS Makes Way For The Sequel
I didn’t get to attend the KICK-ASS movie panel at Comic-Con ‘09 but I heard the trailer screened was pretty hardcore. It got leaked online and you can watch it OVER THERE. Lionsgate is distributing KICK-ASS to theaters everywhere, the release date is April 16th, 2010
We’ve known for quite some time now that KICK-ASS 2 is happening and Graphic novelist Mark Millar told MTV that the end of the first movie sets up for the sequel
“There’s a basic plot. The series ends on a teaser for the next one, and the movie ends on that teaser, too.”
“We don’t want to sound too cocky, but we know this is good. It didn’t cost that much money to make. There will definitely be another one.”
The movie ends on a teaser for the next one.. isn’t that the method that’s been used in almost every blockbuster movie nowadays?! Giving an extra scene sometimes right after the end-credits have rolled. So I don’t know what he’s so excited about.
That said, I still believe this Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation is going to.. KICK-ASS, despite the fact that I have yet to read the graphic novel that it’s based on. I’ll just let the movie version do the talkin’.
KICK-ASS tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Cage).
Based on the groundbreaking, best-selling comic by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.
KICK-ASS Gets April 2010 And EXPENDABLES Moves To August
After months without distributor, Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation KICK-ASS got itself Lionsgate and now…after months without a release date, Lionsgate has announced via twitter that KICK-ASS will see the light of day on April 16th, 2010, going up against Alexandre Aja’s PIRANHA 3D and Will Forte’s MACGRUBER and Tracy Morgan’s DEATH AT A FUNERAL Remake.
The sad part about all this is that since Lionsgate did not want two of its movies to open too close to each other, competing for attention and box office money within the same month, it has also decided to move Sly Stallone’s sausage fest action flick THE EXPENDABLES from April 23rd all the way to August 20th, 2010. As of today, the movie has that weekend all to itself. But this means you’re going to have wait even longer to see Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger walk away calmly from explosions like cool guys should. This also means THE EXPENDABLES will most likely be the movie to end Summer Movies Season 2010.

THE EXPENDABLES is about a team of mercenaries sent to South America to topple a dictator.
KICK-ASS Girl New Photo
Damn! That is a big-ass gun for a little girl to handle, my eyes may be old but she looks like she’s been crying too but don’t let her fool you We saw the previous image of her posing and now slashfilm has the new image of Chloe Moretz as Mindy Macready, a pre-teen assassin who’s been trained by her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) in the upcoming adaptation KICK-ASS, directed by Matthew Vaughn.
By the way, the complete schedule for Comic-Con 2009, hopefully it’s one that doesn’t have to make me choose between two awesome events happening at the same time, I hate when that happens.
Master blogger Peter Sciretta said that KICK-ASS panel will take place on Thursday, July 23 towards the end of the day, it’s not clear though whether it’d be in HALL-H or some other ballroom in the convention. I’m sure we’ll hear something soon enough.
KICK-ASS centers on a high school dweeb named Dave Lizewski who decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he eventually runs into real bad guys with real weapons.
Aaron Johnson plays title character, while Lyndsy Fonseca plays the object of the teen’s infatuation who believes Dave is gay. Cage is a former cop who wants to bring down a druglord and has trained his daughter (Chloe Moretz) to be a lethal weapon.
