viggo_mortensen David Cronenberg

Oscar winner Christoph Waltz. It’s really good saying that, Oscar winner Christoph Waltz, that’s uber bingo! was supposed to star along side Michael Fassbender and Keira Knightley in the adaptation THE TALKING CURE to be directed by David Cronenberg but DeadlineHollywood said Cronenberg’s go-to guy Viggo Mortensen (A History Of Violence, Eastern Promises) has replaced Waltz, the reason is because Waltz wants to focus on starring in WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, for a villainous role that might be his ticket to Oscar again, can you imagine the possibilities… Read the rest of this entry »

CENTURION still has yet to have a U.S. theatrical release date but IGN has the first trailer this awesome movie from director Neil Marshall who brought us The Descent.
It’s been 10 years since Maximum of Gladiator reminds us how patriotic it is to die for Rome, it’s good to have it back again even through a different movie that’s just as bloody and epic.
Marshall previously described CENTURION as a Scottish-Roman Western where the Picts are like the Indians and the Romans are like the cavalry. Watch the slaying after the jump.. Read the rest of this entry »

CENTURION: 2 New Photos

Posted by Rama On October - 5 - 2009

We saw a shot of Olga Kurylenko, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and then we saw the photo of actor Michael Fassbender (he’s the dude who made that awesome jump in 300) running away from some savage soldiers. And now EMPIRE has these 2 new photos from CENTURION, the upcoming movie by director Neil Marshall who brought us The Descent and Doomsday.

Actor Michael Fassbender who plays Quintus had this to say about what we can anticipate…

“There’s certainly a lot of head-chopping. I guess you can always make modern-day parallels, to the occupation of Iraq. But it’s the idea of someone who believes in an ethos, becomes disillusioned and comes to his own sort of beliefs. So there are parallels, and it’s interesting when you take it out of our timeframe and stick it back 2,000 years.”

And Marshall described it as a Scottish-Roman Western where the Picts are like the Indians and the Romans are like the cavalry

This movie is described as the British-set sword and sandals thriller, set during the Roman invasion of Britain in AD 117, (63 years before the event of Gladiator) details the story of Quintus Dias, sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, who marches north with General Virilus’ legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the earth and destroy their leader Gorlacon.

This epic movie has yet to have a release date but it will arrive in 2010
