HEADS UP! This article may contain SPOILER!
2009 was not a good year for comedy fans. Sure we had I Love You Man, Zombieland and The Hangover to make us laugh, actually I believe that they’re going to go down as cult hits or instant classic. But then there were Dance Flick, Land Of The Lost, Year One, Jennifer’s Body, Night At The Museum 2, Bruno, I Love You Beth Cooper, The Ugly Truth, The Goods, The Men Who Stare At Goats, Old Dogs and Gentlemen Broncos. One disappointment after another, somehow something got lost in the jokes.
But what I notice happening more this year compared to the previous is that we had more comedy that suddenly switches gear to drama. I’m not talking about dramedies like Little Miss Sunshine and Juno. I’m talking about comedy movies that sell themselves as a laugh fest but they surprised us by how dramatic they could be as the plot progressed. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t… Read the rest of this entry »
When Comedy Turns Into Drama
BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD Return To The Big Screen?
You have no idea how awesome it felt just to see Beavis & Butthead appeared online the other day even if it was just to promote Mike Judge’s new movie EXTRACT. Judge should stop worrying about workplace comedy and start focusing on the next adventure for these two characters again. It’s been more than a decade since Beavis & Butthead Do America (1996). Judge talked to Cinemablend and he’s got an idea for what that might be about…
“It would take at least two years, and I haven’t had two years to spare in a while. It is fun to do again. I worry that as I get older my voice is going to change,”
“Occasionally I’ll get an idea. A while back, I was thinking, God it would be so fun to just have them working tech support. They’re the guys you get when you call. I started writing stuff down. But yeah, I feel like they’re always still there. I keep wanting to do something with them being like old, in their 60s, two dirty old men sitting on a couch.”
Not a bad idea, although where’s the fun in watching Beavis & Butthead being old and unable to do much anymore, plus it reminds me too much of Abe Simpsons and Jasper Beardley.
Well, at least the thought of sequel is in the back of his head, it’d be more nice if he had a precise timetable down for when this would actually take place in the near future but the great Cornholio would have to wait a little longer before he gets hits moment on the big screen again.
Beavis And Butthead Talk EXTRACT
This weekend, the workplace comedy EXTRACT hits theaters nationwide, the movie’s directed by Mike Judge who brought us Office Space and he’s also the genius behind the classic Beavis & Butthead. So to promote the movie starring Jason Bateman huh huh Master-bateman huh huh and Kristen Wiig, the two Icons have returned, via the vibrant video above to discuss how cool it is that guys could also get paid to have sex. All I can say is,.. this brings back the good old days.. I demand another BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD Movie, damnit! I am the great Cornholio!
EXTRACT New Poster
I want to vouch for Mike Judge, I’d like to tell everybody all over the world of his upcoming movie EXTRACT, (check out the trailer) that’s how much of a fan I was of Office Space, Idiocracy and Beavis and Butthead but the scenes that they showed at Comic-Con ‘09 weren’t funny, none of the clips made me laugh, in fact it was a very boring panel, hardly any member of the audience wanted to come up and ask questions. I’m just hoping it’s because Judge is keeping the ’secret laugh-riot weapon’ for when we see the whole movie. Via we are movie geeks, the new poster for EXTRACT hit the web and you might like or hate the artwork depending on whether Mila Kunis‘ freakishly huge right hand is a bit too much.
Ben Affleck will play an ambulance-chasing lawyer in the film, which centers on a flower extract factory owner (Jason Bateman) who’s dealing with workplace problems and a streak of bad luck, including his wife’s affair with a gigolo.
EXTRACT opens September 4th, 2009
EXTRACT Poster Hurts Your Nuts
In the ball-busting trailer for Mike Judge new comedy EXTRACT, we see briefly how Clifton Collin Jr.’s character will get hurt right where the sun don’t shine and Jason Bateman’s explaining to Ben Affleck how the nut is barely hanging.
Now, via Hitflix, comes the nut-cracking poster for the movie created by the genius behind Beavis & Butthead, Office Space and the movie that I thought should’ve got a theatrical release, Idiocracy. Mike Judge has a certain type of humor that’s his own and after all the Judd Apatow stuff we’ve seen in recent years… it’s good to have Mike Judge back in the game.
By the way, Gene Simmons and his creepy tongue will make an appearance as well.

EXTRACT Trailer
Cinematical has the trailer premiere for EXTRACT, a new comedy by Mike Judge, the genius behind Beavis & Butthead and Office Space.
Starring Jason Bateman in his typical character, hottie Mila Kunis and Ben Affleck with his Charles Manson looks and last but not least Clifton Collins Jr. who’s about to get some serious whack on the balls.
Correct me if I’m wrong but Jason Bateman seems to be playing the same type of romantically challenged character again and again (Hancock, TV’s Arrested Development, The Ex)
