Bourne-Greengrass-Matt-Damon

Back in December, Paul Greengrass made an official exit statement regarding not directing any BOURNE movies anymore, but earlier this month, Matt Damon said he’d like to see a prequel where another actor would star as Jason Bourne. And so during the press conference for their upcoming thriller GREEN ZONE, neither one could escape the burning BOURNE questions and Greengrass just had to reaffirm again why he’s not directing BOURNE 4 and Damon had to elaborate what he meant by his prequel idea… Read the rest of this entry »

The Next BOURNE Movie Is A Prequel?

Posted by Rama On February - 1 - 2010

Jason Bourne Fight

It’s no secret that Matt Damon doesn’t want to do another BOURNE Movie without his favorite director, Paul Greengrass and since Greengrass left the BOURNE 4 project, Damon is as less enthusiastic about it as Johnny Depp was about PIRATES 4 when he heard Dick Cook left Disney. Speaking to Empire recently, Damon said that the next BOURNE movie might not require his involvement because it might be a prequel… Read the rest of this entry »

GREEN ZONE Featurette

The Green Zone

Here’s GREEN ZONE (watch the domestic trailer) featurette, via TheMovieBlog. Director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon both explaining the story and the lead character and it ends with Greengrass giving you his absolute confidence that when you’ve come to see a Damon thriller, you’re in for an exciting time at the movies. Don’t forget to watch the international trailer that surprisingly has less of that Bourne feel to it. Watch the featurette after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Matt Damon Still Thinks There’s Going To Be BOURNE 4

Bourne Matt Damon

This weekend is my brother’s birthday so I wanna apologize to you ahead of time that I might be posting the reviews later on. I’ve seen the new movies that are out in theaters right now, but I won’t have time to post my reviews yet at least until this weekend is over. So I thank you for your patience and understanding. But real quick now, as we know, director Paul Greengrass himself has confirmed his leaving THE BOURNE 4 but not holding any grudge against Universal. Via comingsoon.net, Matt Damon has always said that he’d only want to do another BOURNE movie if Greengrass was the director, but now that the situation has changed, when asked if the fourth installment might happen at all, he’s still feeling optimistic about it… Read the rest of this entry »

Paul Greengrass’ BOURNE 4 Exit Statement

Posted by Rama On December - 1 - 2009

Bourne-Greengrass-Matt-Damon

Yesterday we heard a terrible news that director Paul Greengrass who has helmed Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum and was supposed to take on THE BOURNE 4 as well, has left the project due to what was reported as ‘creative differences’ with Universal. Greengrass released official statement today, via Variety, and I thought it he’d be saying something like “ya, Universal is an a-hole and I’ve had enough of their bullsh*t!”, but nah, he handled it with class and respect, his words have no ill intention whatsoever. He indicated that there was no creative differences to begin with, he just wanted to move on to something else for now. Good man. Check out what he said after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Paul Greengrass Says Farewell To BOURNE 4

Bam! And just like that today’s big surprise just hit you like a brick wall. The Playlist has reported that Paul Greengrass is, for now, not attached to the fourth BOURNE movie anymore. It’s a bit of a shocker if you ask me because after working on the second and third movie, it’s a bit tough to imagine this franchise without Greengrass’ involvement. Theories on why he left the project circle around the script and the possible expensive post-production budget for his new movie THE GREEN ZONE… Read the rest of this entry »

GREEN ZONE Poster

Green Zone1

There’s a significant difference between the  GREEN ZONE domestic trailer that reminds of you of Bourne and GREEN ZONE International trailer that tells the story. Maybe the marketing thinks we U.S. audience are more in tune with and easily amused by fast-paced intensity instead of a trailer that makes you think. Empire got its hands on the first poster for GREEN ZONE starring Matt Damon, it doesn’t have any of that catchy tagline with smart pun, it just says ‘Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller Is Done Following Orders’, the urban style would go, ‘Miller is sick and tired of their bullcrap!’. GREEN ZONE International Trailer

Green Zone

Well that was fast, ain’t it?! We just saw the domestic trailer for GREEN ZONE the other day and now MSN has the international trailer which for some reason shows more of Brendan Gleeson who was fantastic in the must-see comedy In Bruges. So why are we watching this version? Either this or the trailer for American Pie: The Book Of Love, hell I’d skip the latter if I were you.

GREEN ZONE Trailer

Matt Damon

The trailer for GREEN ZONE has been released by Universal, via Yahoo, you can watch it using the media player below. So far Matt Damon looks pretty much like Jason Bourne in a military uniform, the whole conspiracy thriller plot and Damon calling in saying ‘I know what you did’ make the similarities between the two roles even more uncanny. But I’m willing to keep an open mind since I have respect for director Paul Greengrass and his hand held camera style that’s more about making the characters real rather than about forcing us to become part of the movie. Watch the trailer after this jump, maybe you see it in a different way… Read the rest of this entry »

Matt Damon Talks THE BOURNE 4

Posted by Rama On September - 11 - 2009

Bourne Greengrass Matt Damon

Real quick now, if you’re wondering if there’s any significant development with the fourth installment of BOURNE franchise, the answer is not much. Collider had a brief chat with Matt Damon after the press junket for his latest movie The Informant, when asked if he’s read any script drafts for THE BOURNE 4, his reply was that it all depends on director Paul Greengrass‘ availability…

Not Yet. Paul finished cutting “The Green Zone” except for some effects. It’s coming out in March. He hasn’t had a break literally since he did “The Bourne Supremacy” – which is six years ago now. So he was like I need to take a break…so he’s been on vacation for about three weeks and he’s going to take a few more and then he said he’d come to New York and we’d sit down and we’d talk seriously about it.

Last we heard on this, the studio hired scribe Josh Zetumer to write THE BOURNE 4 because George Nolfi (The Sentinel) who has written the initial script is forced to retreat from BOURNE universe due to the fact that he’s also attached to writing another thriller titled THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU also starring Matt Damon which has started production September. This strategy is called a parallel script. Universal will have 2 possible stories, which are not based on Ludlum’s stories anymore, to combine because the stdio still wants Nolfi back to BOURNE after he’s done with THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU.
Damon also said that he’s got an opening in his schedule in 2010 to make THE BOURNE 4 movie if everything comes together.
