Zach Galifianakis Puss N Boots Humpty Dumpty

Zach Galifianakis had a great fall but his career is going well. I should’ve dressed up as Galifianakis’s Hangover character for Halloween… man that would’ve been awesome! Ever since the successful comedy, it’s as if Hollywood wants a piece of Galifianakis’ thick ass beard. He’s got Dinner for Schmucks, Due Date, It’s Kind Of A Funny Story all in his pocket and now he’s set to do a voicework for Dreamworks’ animated spin-off, PUSS IN BOOTSRead the rest of this entry »

Antonio Banderas Talks PUSS IN BOOTS

Antonio Banderas Puss n Boots

O what the hell, I know the world wants to know more about what Marvel and Disney are cookin’ up next but let’s pay a quick visit to Dreamworksland. While promoting The Other Man, Antonio Banderas chatted with the good folks of Latinoreview about what’s going on with PUSS IN BOOTS so far. The last time we heard of this, Banderas said it was going to be an origin story and it will not overlap with Shrek at all and he said the reason was they didn’t know what Shrek 4 and 5 were going to do with the characters, so they couldn’t write conflicting storylines.

He didn’t reveal new things, he basically just said that all’s good and that the PUSS IN BOOTS story takes place between Shrek 4 (Shrek Forever After) and Shrek 5. He is also doing a PUSS IN BOOTS Halloween special to air next year. So that part might not be related with the upcoming Shrek or Treat, the Halloween special which will be showing this year unless Banderas got the two confused.

PUSS IN BOOTS Movie Won't Overlap With SHREK

I was going to skip this info completely but how can you say no to those big cute sad eyes?! You’ve read recently that Antonio Banderas clearly stated PUSS IN BOOTS movie will be an origin story. And then he went very emotional about his connection with the character, I thought he was gonna cry.
At the time, my guess was that the ending to PUSS IN BOOTS might lead to how he showed up in SHREK Movies but that’s not the case. Moviehole heard it straight from screenwriter David H. Steinberg who flat out says.. other than PUSS, the movie will not feature any character from SHREK franchise

“No, all new characters – except Puss”,
‘’It doesn’t overlap with Shrek at all. Partly that was done to tell an original Puss story, but partly because we didn’t know what Shrek 4 (and now Shrek 5) were going to do with the characters and we couldn’t write conflicting storylines.’’

“DreamWorks Animation only releases two pictures a year, so it had to get on the schedule”,
‘’The release date is now set for 2012’’.

SHREK 5, huh? Already? That’s the first I’ve heard of it. Maybe SHREK and SAW franchise should have a crossover party that never ends.
Jigsaw could kidnap Fiona, the clock is ticking, and he tells the big green ogre, “I want to play a game”
According to Dreamworks announcement, SHREK FOREVER AFTER opens May 21st, 2010 and PUSS IN BOOTS opens March 12th, 2012

PUSS IN BOOTS Movie Is Origin Story

When Dreamworks Animation announced the line-up for their future movies, the Shrek spin-off, PUSS IN BOOTS was on the list. At first all they had was scribe Tom Wheeler to write the screenplay, and now we know that not only will we have Antonio Banderas‘ voice again as the adorable cat with swordfighting skills, Salma Hayek will lend her voice to love interest Kitty. Shrek The Third helmer Chris Miller will direct, he wrote the earlier drafts of the screenplay.

Comingsoon.net had a chat with Banderas and he told them that PUSS IN BOOTS Movie will be an origin story.

“Yes, we’re going to go from the time he’s a very little cat, so you see actually why and how he becomes an adult killer, and the reasons why he ends up on that path. It’s interesting because it goes away from that kind of use of popular culture that ‘Shrek’ has. It goes in a different way,

and the movie sometimes gets almost emotional, I may say, and it’s kind of epic. I found when they pitched the movie to me, and now reading the script, a total real connection with the character. Obviously, he’s a cartoon, but (I have) a real personal connection with him in terms of what he’s expressing. It’s very emotional at some points, it’s very special. It’s going to surprise people I think; they’re not going to expect what we’re going to do.”

Here, have some kleenex, Mr. Banderas.
God forbid we have a Spanish grownass man who’s in touch with his emotional side and starts crying all over the interweb.
Maybe he’s become sensitive because besides the character PUSS, there’s not much going for Banderas lately.
It’s a good thing Dreamworks hasn’t forgotten about him.
Maybe the end of PUSS IN BOOTS would lead up to the moment in the bar when he showed up in Shrek 2.

Banderas will be part of Woody Allen’s untitled project and he’s set to star in Dali, playing the legendary painter. Until all these projects come to pass, his latest one, co-starring Morgan Freeman, THE CODE a.k.a Thick As Thieves, goes straight to DVD at the end of this month.
