This info actually hit the web this past weekend, via bloody-disgusting,  writer/director Rod Lurie who’s filming the remake of STRAW DOGS updated his facebook stating ” “Beginning stunt rehearsals today with James Woods and Dominic Purcell.” That’s right, Woods and Purcell have joined the cast. And today Variety informed us of another actress who’ve signed on as well, hottie Willa Holland
What’s odd is that they’re announcing all these additional names and yet no info on which roles they’re going to play in this new take.

The 1971 original version was directed by the late great Sam Peckinpah (The Wild Bunch) starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan George as a couple who move rural England and face increasingly vicious local harassment.
That version was quite brutal because the couple was bothered by local bullies, Dustin Hoffman eventually had to turn violent, and the wife was raped.. well, she kinda didn’t mind after a while but it sounds like they’re toning it down with this remake..,starring “James Marsden as a Hollywood screenwriter who accompanies his wife (Kate Bosworth) as she returns to her hometown in Mississippi. Her ex-boyfriend (Alexander Skarsgard), a former high school football hero, sees her return as an opportunity to reclaim glory.”

STRAW DOGS The remake already has James Marsden (X-Men) to play the role that belonged to Dustin Hoffman in the original version, a Hollywood screenwriter who relocates with his wife to her hometown in Mississippi. And now Variety reported that 2 more has joined the cast. Superman Returns‘ Lois Lane, Kate Bosworth or some would call her the pretty girl whose right eye is of slightly different color than the left, she’ll play the wife, who left the South for LA. to become an actress and returns home so her husband can finish his script in quiet.
And the man who would’ve been a decent THOR, Alexander Skarsgard as an ex-football hero who sees the return of his former girlfriend as a way to reclaim glory
Rod Lurie wrote the script and will direct for Screen Gems. Production will begin in August.
