Fox Has THE SHADOW Now. David Slade Might Direct

The Shadow

Real quick now, a couple of months ago, IESB reported that Sam Raimi’s new project might be THE SHADOW and the website even had read the draft by Siavash Farahanl whose approach to the story is similar to “The Punisher” and “Batman”.. It’s a hardcore R-rated script with “a man thrown into meat grinder and coming out as ground beef on the other side. Broken bones at every turn. Body parts strewn around a train station. Hookers servicing males”. Latinoreview today said that the project is no longer with Sony Pictures, it is now housed at Fox. The directing job might go to David Slade, the dude who brought us Hard Candy, 30 Days Of Night and the upcoming Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE but Raimi will still be involved as a producer.

Sam Raimi’s Next Is THE SHADOW?

The Shadow

I gotta tell ya.. I’ve never seen the 1994 adaptation THE SHADOW starring Alec Baldwin, I couldn’t get myself to rent and watch it, fearing that it would be just as time-wasting as watching Billy Zane’s take on The Phantom (1996). But guess what, even though previous report stated Sam Raimi’s next project, now that he’s out of SPIDER-MAN franchise, would be WORLD OF WARCRAFT, IESB said it might be THE SHADOW instead… Read the rest of this entry »

Rama’s SCREEN reader Frankie pointed me to this article at Vulture which I find interesting because all this time we’ve been led to believe that the only reason that SPIDER-MAN 4 got dropped and completely replaced by a reboot was because the studio couldn’t agree with Sam Raimi on the script, blaming it mostly on the studio for not wanting to give Raimi what he wanted. Well, this article puts the blame on Raimi instead, more specifically his stubborn demands to get to SPIDER-MAN 4 to have the same treatment that James Cameron gave his precious AVATAR… Read the rest of this entry »

Spider-Man Nimrod Antal

Eventhough Sony wants SPIDER-MAN reboot to start shooting later this year for a 2012 release in 3D, I got a feeling we’re going to be in this “who’s going to direct SPIDER-MAN reboot?” for a while, maybe. Recently, DeadlineHollywood learned that Marc Webb was the number one contender to take on the job, obviously because the studio thinks Webb’s 500 Days Of Summer skills would be perfect for Peter Parker’s teenage years, possibly the love puppy story between him and MJ. But QuietEarth has heard that Nimrod Antal may also be the one likely to helm the project and here’s why… Read the rest of this entry »

WORLD OF WARCRAFT Is Next For Sam Raimi

We all know how SPIDER-MAN 4 ended and how SPIDER-MAN Reboot was born. It’s time to leave all that in the past now and to look forward. Disagreements over script, pressure from release date, it was a big mess so as long as Nolan returns for the next Batman film, at this point I couldn’t care less what happens to this new take on SPIDER-MAN and its intention of turning back time with the chronicles of teenage Peter Parker. This all means one thing.. Read the rest of this entry »

SPIDER-MAN Reboot Is “Gritty And Contemporary”

Spider-Man

Yesterday the world was stunned by the info about SPIDER-MAN 4 being eliminated altogether to make way for SPIDER-MAN reboot which will take Peter Parker back to his teenage years as he grapples with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises. What is this, a web-slinging Harry Potter?! Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi will not be involved anymore, their era is officially behind us. Variety says that the script for SPIDER-MAN reboot has actually been around for quite some time to initially serve as the next step after SPIDER-MAN 4… Read the rest of this entry »

Whoa! If this isn’t a big info, then I don’t know what can be considered a big info because check this, everything you thought you knew about SPIDER-MAN 4 is gone! That’s right, Sony announced today that SPIDER-MAN 4 has been completely dropped, scratched, scrapped, shot down,… and in its place is (drumroll please)SPIDER-MAN reboot!Read the rest of this entry »

John Malkovich The Vulture Spider-Man

As we all know, SPIDER-MAN 4 is currently put on hold, script problem. Director Sam Raimi is not an easy man to please, not even after the story went through 3 different scribes. The fate of Peter Parker is now in the hands of scribe Alvin Sargent who penned the second and third installment. But remember the rumor about Malkovich possibly playing The Vulture and Anne Hathaway playing The Vulturess?! Well, there’s been a development so to speak… Read the rest of this entry »

Tobey Maguire Talks SPIDER-MAN 4 Delay

Tobey Maguire Spiderman

As we all know, SPIDER-MAN 4 hit a bump on the road. So much so that THOR decided to take May 6th, 2011 and all because they just couldn’t agree on the script, director Sam Raimi hated all the versions that have been done, and now it comes down to scribe Alvin Sargent, who co-penned Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. With all this mess and uncertainty, Columbia still hangs on to May 5th release date even when it’s already deemed unlikely. Tobey Maguire talked about this situation in a recent live webcam chat on Thursday at the L.A. Times’ The Envelope, this is what he had to say… Read the rest of this entry »

SPIDER-MAN 4 Won’t Arrive In 2011?

spider-man

UPDATE: Variety confirms this story. Production for SPIDER-MAN 4 has been postponed. The release date is still May 5th, 2011 but Sony said it has become “highly unlikely”

O boy, here’s another round of will the world ever get to see SPIDER-MAN 4?! Honestly though, is there anything more amusing than wondering when Peter Parker get to swing from one NY building to another again. Last month, IESB said because there were disagreements between director Sam Raimi and the execs at Sony (Columbia) about which character should be the next villain. But now Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood reported that we might not even be able to see SPIDER-MAN 4 on its scheduled release date… Read the rest of this entry »
