How Do You Spot A Twist Ending Early On?

Movies With Twist Endings

Most of us don’t have the eye to notice a few things that would indicate a movie’s twist ending. When Bruce Willis‘ character’s revelations was exposed at the end of The Sixth Sense, it was almost like a phenomenon, I think that’s what helped the movie banked big bucks at the box office and won Oscar nominations, because most audiences didn’t see the ending a mile away, it was so well crafted and well-wrapped by M. Night Shyamalan. The same goes for The Usual Suspect, I watched that movie over and over again on my DVD and still couldn’t spot anything early on that would at least inform me of Kevin Spacey’s real character…. SHUTTER ISLAND Review

Posted by Rama On February - 21 - 2010

Shutter Island
For the most part Martin Scorsese does my favorite book justice, SHUTTER ISLAND focuses on Ted Daniels’ slow but sure journey spiraling down to either madness or reality. Any author Denis Lehane’s fans like yours truly won’t be disappointed by this adaptation. On the other hand,… Read the rest of this entry »

Dennis Lehane To RESCUE His Film Screenwriting Debut

Posted by Rama On February - 10 - 2010

Boston Noir Dennis Lehane

Dennis Lehane is one of my favorite authors, his books have been turned into great quality adaptations by Clint Eastwood (Mystic River), Ben Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) and Martin Scorsese (Shutter Island). Although he’s written for TV series, HBO’s The Wire to be exact, but Lehane never did write for the movies until now.. Read the rest of this entry »

After waiting for so long, I sure hope Marty Scorsese and Leo DiCaprio don’t disappoint me with this adaptation because if my favorite Dennis Lehane book didn’t get justice, there’s gonna be hell to pay.. maybe not, I can’t threaten the great Scorsese cause I’ll be the one end up getting wacked… Read the rest of this entry »

SUPER BOWL XLIV Movie Ads

Super Bowl XLIV

It’s that time of year again, SUPER BOWL XLIV is almost upon us, that means we’re going to see a bunch of TV spots and ads for upcoming blockbuster movies that will blow your mind. Between you and me, I’m actually looking forward to beer and doritos commercials cause they’re always the most hilarious ones of the bunch. Via Adage, Universal, Paramount, and Disney have all bought their share time, keep in mind that it costs about $3 Million for a 30 second spot. That is wrath of God money I do not have my friends…

So, for SUPER BOWL XLIV, Universal might unleash spots for ROBIN HOOD or WOLFMAN and DESPICABLE ME, Walt Disney might offer spots for ALICE IN WONDERLAND, PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME and TOY STORY 3, of course Paramount will be highlighting SHUTTER ISLAND, IRON MAN 2, and THE LAST AIRBENDER.

Leonardo DiCaprio Shutter Island

Still waiting for SHUTTER ISLAND to come out in theaters, I swear it’s as if my favorite books that got turned into movies often get their release dates screwd with by the studio, last year it was The Road, I had to wait one freakin’ year and this year it was SHUTTER ISLAND. But Leonardo DiCaprio is going to be making his animated feature debut with THE GUARDIANS. He will voice star as Jack Frost… Read the rest of this entry »

SHUTTER ISLAND 2nd Trailer

Posted by Rama On October - 2 - 2009

Shutter Island

It still hurts to talk about SHUTTER ISLAND, as a fan of the Dennis Lehane novel, I find it hard being being excited for this movie whenever I remember the betrayal. This could’ve been something this year, this could’ve been a contender instead of a February bum which is what I fear it could be.
Paramount has released the 2nd trailer, via Apple, for the Martin Scorsese-directed adaptation starring Leonardo DiCaprio, similar footage to the previous trailer but with a reminder of the new release month.

The story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island’s fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.

SHUTTER ISLAND opens February 19th, 2010

zombieland whip it

I’m still angry at Paramount for moving Martin Scorsese’s thriller SHUTTER ISLAND from October 2nd, 2009 to February 19th, 2010. Paramount used to be cool in my book, now I won’t be able to forgive them until IRON MAN 2 hits theaters everywhere next summer.
People say look on the bright side, so I guess the following info could be considered that bright side although the pain fro Paramount’s betrayal still hurts like a motherf*er!

According to comingsoon.net, Fox Searchlight and Columbia Pictures have moved the release dates of their upcoming movies to take the slot that SHUTTER ISLAND left behind.
ZOMBIELAND and WHIP IT will now open on October 2nd, 2009 and they’re going up against the re-release of Pixar’s TOY STORY And TOY STORY 2 in 3D and The Coen Bros’ headbashing dark comedy A SERIOUS MAN which hits select cities.

So that leaves Universal’s Vince Vaughn comedy COUPLES RETREAT which opens weekend after, October 9th, without competition.
That wouldn’t be a problem, I’m sure either Woody Harrelson’s zombie-killing action/comedy or Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut would still hold the top throne on that weekend.

On another note, here are some more release dates that were recently announced

UP IN THE AIR opens December 4th, 2009
THE FANTASTIC Mr. FOX now opens November 25th, 2009
YOGI BEAR Movie opens December 17th, 2010
