Ang Lee Life Of Pi

Ang Lee’s recent movie Taking Woodstock fell short in my opinion, I never took Lee for a filmmaker who’s afraid to dwell deeper with the characters but that’s the impression the movie gave me. Lee is still one of the best filmmakers out there and if you remember from earlier this year, he signed on to adapt LIFE OF PI, based on the 2001 book by author Yann Martel. My friend Nina is a big fan of the book, she’d be excited to hear that Lee has given the world some update, via DigitalSpy on the development… Read the rest of this entry »

Far out, man! TAKING WOODSTOCK is good but not great. It’s a psychedelic coming of age dramedy that’s entertaining but not as profound as it claims to be. Director Ang Lee returns by capturing… Read the rest of this entry »

TAKING WOODSTOCK Psychedelic Poster

This must be one of the coolest, trippiest movie posters of the year. We’ve the seen the awesome hippie filled trailer, and now Rollingstone has the first psychedelic poster TAKING WOODSTOCK, a new movie by Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee.
The website says it best.. “Combining the aesthetics of a spilled lava lamp with artist Wes Wilson’s famed 1960s posters for San Francisco’s legendary Fillmore, the tagline reads “A Generation Began In His Backyard,” alluding to Elliot Tiber, the focus of the film.”
Peace, man!
This year is the 40th Anniversary of the Woodstock festival. And there’s no better way to celebrate it than to check out the movie when it hits theaters on August 14th, 2009

Ang Lee who brought us dramas like Brokeback Mountain, Sense & Sensibility, and Crouching Tiger has an upcoming movie adaptation and it’s a comedy.. well it’s more like dramedy if you ask me but seems very promising and the trailer has hit the web which you can watch via the media player below. The story is about a man working at his parents’ motel in the Catskills inadvertently sets in motion the generation-defining concert in the summer of 1969.
Starring Demitri Martin who gives us a funny little intro to the trailer, peace!

“Taking Woodstock,” the new film from Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee, is a 1969-set true story about a man, Elliot Tiber (Demetri Martin), who inadvertently played a pivotal role in making the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival into the famed happening it was. Mr. Tiber found himself swept up in a generation-defining experience that would change his life, and American culture, forever. Based on the book by Mr. Tiber with Tom Monte, the screenplay adaptation is by Mr. Schamus.

TAKING WOODSTOCK opens limited August 14th, 2009
