Bourne Matt Damon

This weekend is my brother’s birthday so I wanna apologize to you ahead of time that I might be posting the reviews later on. I’ve seen the new movies that are out in theaters right now, but I won’t have time to post my reviews yet at least until this weekend is over. So I thank you for your patience and understanding. But real quick now, as we know, director Paul Greengrass himself has confirmed his leaving THE BOURNE 4 but not holding any grudge against Universal. Via comingsoon.net, Matt Damon has always said that he’d only want to do another BOURNE movie if Greengrass was the director, but now that the situation has changed, when asked if the fourth installment might happen at all, he’s still feeling optimistic about it… Read the rest of this entry »

Yesterday we heard a terrible news that director Paul Greengrass who has helmed Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum and was supposed to take on THE BOURNE 4 as well, has left the project due to what was reported as ‘creative differences’ with Universal. Greengrass released official statement today, via Variety, and I thought it he’d be saying something like “ya, Universal is an a-hole and I’ve had enough of their bullsh*t!”, but nah, he handled it with class and respect, his words have no ill intention whatsoever. He indicated that there was no creative differences to begin with, he just wanted to move on to something else for now. Good man. Check out what he said after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Bam! And just like that today’s big surprise just hit you like a brick wall. The Playlist has reported that Paul Greengrass is, for now, not attached to the fourth BOURNE movie anymore. It’s a bit of a shocker if you ask me because after working on the second and third movie, it’s a bit tough to imagine this franchise without Greengrass’ involvement. Theories on why he left the project circle around the script and the possible expensive post-production budget for his new movie THE GREEN ZONE… Read the rest of this entry »

Matt Damon Talks THE BOURNE 4

Bourne Greengrass Matt Damon

Real quick now, if you’re wondering if there’s any significant development with the fourth installment of BOURNE franchise, the answer is not much. Collider had a brief chat with Matt Damon after the press junket for his latest movie The Informant, when asked if he’s read any script drafts for THE BOURNE 4, his reply was that it all depends on director Paul Greengrass‘ availability…

Not Yet. Paul finished cutting “The Green Zone” except for some effects. It’s coming out in March. He hasn’t had a break literally since he did “The Bourne Supremacy” – which is six years ago now. So he was like I need to take a break…so he’s been on vacation for about three weeks and he’s going to take a few more and then he said he’d come to New York and we’d sit down and we’d talk seriously about it.

Last we heard on this, the studio hired scribe Josh Zetumer to write THE BOURNE 4 because George Nolfi (The Sentinel) who has written the initial script is forced to retreat from BOURNE universe due to the fact that he’s also attached to writing another thriller titled THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU also starring Matt Damon which has started production September. This strategy is called a parallel script. Universal will have 2 possible stories, which are not based on Ludlum’s stories anymore, to combine because the stdio still wants Nolfi back to BOURNE after he’s done with THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU.
Damon also said that he’s got an opening in his schedule in 2010 to make THE BOURNE 4 movie if everything comes together.

Zetumer To Write Another Script For BOURNE 4

Jason Bourne Fight

It’s no secret now that THE BOURNE 4 (currently untitled) is happening but I don’t know how the story would continue since this time it’s not going to be based on Robert Ludlum’s novels. And is there going to be another villain from the past that he did not remember about and now has to fight while sprinting through some downtown crowded city in Europe while we try to keep up with the shaky hand held camera work? Universal Pictures wanted the fourth installment to be released in 2011, and George Nolfi (The Sentinel) has written the initial script but the problem is that he’s also attached to writing another thriller titled THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU also starring Matt Damon.

So since that one is about to start production in September, he’s forced to retreat from BOURNE for a while. Universal has found a solution. According to Hollywood Reporter, the studio has hired scribe Josh Zetumer to write THE BOURNE 4. The website calls this strategy a parallel script. Zetumer, who’s also writing the new DUNE for director Peter Berg, is going to write a new script but no word yet if his version will be integrated into Nolfi’s, because Universal still wants Nolfi back to BOURNE after he’s done with THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU.

What a hassle, now they have 2 possibly different stories and then they’re going to combine them and we run the risk of watching a movie with too much and too confusing development for both story and character. What’s even funnier is that the website gives a couple of examples of how this parallel scripts method has been done in previous cases…like Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer and Wolverine. Yeah… that’s not a good sign.

Bourne LegacyJust waiting for the OSCARS to begin in a few more hours now. Today time is counting down to cinema’s biggest party. So here I am, sitting in the lobby of Holiday Inn Express in Baltimore city on a Sunday and I’m thinking… while the world is waiting for the Envelopes to be open, I’ll share with you some quick movie info update.
This past Friday, Variety had this long article about the strategies that Universal is planning to execute in response to the growing concerns about how the industry is currently doing and the potential Screen Actors Guild Strike that might happen this summer and they’re evaluating how they did in previous years. And included in that plan is Universal getting Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass might return to make another Bourne movie.
