Just recently, when info hit the web that Channing Tatum is considered for THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA, along with a gazillion other actors, it was also said that the studio had approached Keira Knightley to play Betsy Ross, which I found a bit weird but this one makes more sense,.. Turns out, it’s not Betsy Ross, it’s Peggy and Deadline New York said the competition for the female lead is between Knightley, Alice Eve (She’s Out Of My League) and Emily Blunt.
So they’re going for an American to play CAPTAIN AMERICA but they’re ok with a Brit to play his love interest… interesting..
If you’d recall, Blunt was supposed to play Black Widow in IRON MAN 2 but Fox kept her tied to Gulliver’s Travels so it’s understandable why she would be chasing CAPTAIN AMERICA.
We’ll see how this race turns out.. I hope it doesn’t drag as long as trying to find the male lead.
Ha! I kid you not, we should just play a game each night, trying to guess who will be talked about tomorrow as the possible lead actor for THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA, the winner gets to take comfort in knowing that they’ve indirectly participated in one of the most hilarious casting searches ever. For the past couple of weeks, director Joe Johnston has been heavily promoting THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA by sharing bits and pieces of the development on the upcoming Marvel live action movie. From prepping production design, that they have a short life and they’re going to cast Captain America pretty soon, and about going back WWII, a 98 lbs Steve Rogers, the costume, the VFX and Red Skull as the villain. I mean, Johnston is not Christopher Nolan, Johnston will glad tell anyone what they’re doing so far with the project and how they’re approaching the characters and the story.
