Keanu Reeves Passangers

If you’re not familiar with Gabriele Muccino, he’s the Italian filmmaker who directed two of Will Smith’s movies that you may have recognized in recent years because they went down as two of some of the most depressing stories to ever hit the big screen, The Pursuit Of Happyness and Seven Pounds. Variety reported that Muccino is in final talks with Morgan Creek to direct PASSENGERS already starring Keanu Reeves who signed on in Spring of last year… Read the rest of this entry »

Will Smith Denzel Washington

The following info got no solid confirmation yet but the idea of Denzel Washinton and Will Smith sounds epic. Panjiba reported that in 2002, Will Smith’s production company, Overbrook Entertainment, bought the remake rights to the 1974 Sidney Poitier-directed Afro classic UPTOWN SATURDAY NIGHT. Since then, Smith tried to get Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy with the intention to make it an all star African American Ocean’s Eleven but nothing happened. Til now.. UPDATE: Firstshowing has a couple of more photos which you can view below after the jump

We’ve seen the spy photos of the training and now People has the first official look at THE KARATE KID remake (it was once titled Kung Fu Kid) starring Will Smith’s son, Jaden Smith (The Pursuit Of Happyness) as the bullied youth and Jackie Chan as Mr. Han, who trains the kid to stand up for himself in an exotic Asian locale. The image is actually way, way smaller than the one you see above. Check out the movie’s first teaser art.
Sony is conducting test screenings this weekend, so we’ll hear soon enough what some lucky (or unlucky) members think of the new take on the 1984 classic starring Ralph Macchio and the late great Pat MoritaRead the rest of this entry »

No CAPTAIN NEMO For Now. McG Is Not The Director Anymore

nemo1

The last time we heard anything on Disney’s 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA: CAPTAIN NEMO was that McG wanted either Will Smith or Sam Worthington as Captain Nemo and scribe Randall Wallace (Braveheart) was hired to rewrite the script that was rewritten by Justin Marks (He-Man) using a draft by Bill Marsilli. None of that matters now, Disney has put the project to a complete stop… Read the rest of this entry »

Will Smith And Spielberg’s OLDBOY Remake Is D-E-A-D!

Posted by Rama On November - 10 - 2009

oldboy

You remember that OLDBOY remake that Will Smith and Steven Spielberg have been trying to make?! How they wanted to base it on the Japanese manga series by Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya instead of straight up remaking the Chan Wook Park’s classic. At one point they even got Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend) to write the screenplay. Smith kept bragging that their version will be stunning. You remember all that talk and plan right? Yeah.. well it’s DEAD!… Read the rest of this entry »

Will Smith Flowers

Rama’s SCREEN reader Frankie thinks Will Smith always plays Will Smith in all his movies, he might be wearing a suit or holding a gun or living alone in a post-apocalyptic world but he’s still Will Smith. But what if Will Smith plays a mentally retarded character? Would that finally give him an Oscar? According to Panjiba, Smith is set to star and produce a modern day adaptation of FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON based on the 1959 book by author Daniel KeyesRead the rest of this entry »

Men In Black

Like it or not, MEN IN BLACK 3 is happening, we’ve known about this since spring and I thought it was going to be put on the back burner, never to be mentioned again. But Columbia Pictures hasn’t forgotten. Variety says the studio has hired Tropic Thunder co-writer Etan Cohen to write MEN IN BLACK 3Read the rest of this entry »

Original Stars Return For HANCOCK 2

Posted by Rama On September - 10 - 2009

Hancock

Real quick now, if you are anticipating HANCOCK 2. Anybody? Ok, Will Smith and Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman will return for the sequel.. duh! Director Peter Berg told this to MTV

“Everybody’s going to come back for a sequel,”

HANCOCK 2 is being written by scribes Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara. The plot is kept under wraps, but they will work with Smith and Berg to develop the story.

SPOILER ALERT! The movie that opened last summer about a drunk superhero and a publicist trying to help restore his image turned out to be a pseudo Greek Mythology when it was revealed that Will Smith was actually a god that can become immortal and highly vulnerable in the presence of his goddess companion, played by Charlize Theron. Director Peter Berg previously talked to Sci-Fi Wire, basically saying that since the story indicates he’s not alone of his kind, they could bring in another god out there for the sequel.

“We have [someone in mind],” Berg said. “I’m not gonna tell you who, but we have!”

Maybe it’s Paul Bettany, the man sure knows how stick with movies of biblical proportion. But my vote for who should play this third god for HANCOCK 2 is.. the most interesting man in the world
