Daybreakers

Lionsgate has released the new trailer for DAYBREAKERS via Yahoo. Once again, it’s one of those that’s not far different than the previous trailer. I know it’s a January movie, meaning a month full of awful movies, but the concept/premise is so intriguing, I’ll make an exception. Watch the trailer after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Another ANTICHRIST Poster

antichrist

Holy mother of disturbing movies! Here’s literally the 7th poster for ANTICHRIST via Shocktilyourdrop, that was from the recent Fantastic Fest, art designed by David D’Andrea. The website said it looks like an album cover for Sword or Witchcraft, I say it looks like one of those old photos you’d find inside old manuscripts or ancient books. There’s what seems to be a crow with a crucifix and Bambi lying still. Weird..
Directed by Lars Von Triers, starring Willem Defoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg as a grieving couple retreat to ‘Eden,’ their isolated cabin in the woods, where they hope to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse…

Another ANTICHRIST Disturbing Trailer

antichrist

All this D23 Expo info keeps coming in like crazy, it can get overwhelming. I’m not complaining but let’s take a quick detour to the new trailer for ANTICHRIST.. yeah, this doesn’t help either. But check this out, at least this trailer keeps you awake.. or freak the hell out of your mind. Could this Lars Von Trier movie do for our generation what The Exorcist phenomenally did for the 70s?! That’s what I’d like to find out. The new trailer, via Apple, is filled with praises and rave reviews from prominent critics who’ve had the pleasure of seeing the supernatural psychological suspense/thriller through festival circuit.

Potential Poster For A Disturbing ANTICHRIST

Posted by Rama On September - 9 - 2009

antichristsnipposter

Everything that has been released for Lars Von Trier-directed ANTICHRIST, the images, the trailer and especially the posters, have been nothing but those that aim to make you feel uncomfortable. Part of you wants to see this disturbing movie and part of you is hesitant, thinking that if you do watch it you might find yourself traumatized and soulless, unable to return to the state of normality.
The previous text filled poster gave you some of the reviews that had words like ‘Terror, evil, shocking, brilliant, blood, twisted, troubling’ and my favorite ‘Nothing can prepare you’ for ANTICHRIST.
The poster above, via ropeofsilicon,  is designed by Jeremy Saunders. Saunders recently twittered hoping that Von Triers would approve his design for the Australian release of ANTICHRIST.
Stunning image, if there’s an Oscar for best poster of the year, Saunders would win.
I haven’t seen ANTICHRIST but I’m betting that the snip scissor artwork captures the tone of this psychological thriller that evolves into a horror film, Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg play a couple who retreat to an isolated cabin in the woods following the death of their child.

ANTICHRIST opens limited October 23rd, 2009

Morton, West, And Walker Travel To MARS

Samantha Morton, Dominic West, Polly Walker

The cast of the live action adaptation JOHN CARTER OF MARS got itself 3 British thesps. Samantha Morton (Minority Report), Dominic West (Punisher: War Zone) and Polly Walker (TV’s Rome) has joined the cast that already includes Taylor Kitsch as John Carter, a Civil War veteran who retreats into a cave to avoid capture by Apache Indians. He takes an otherworldly turn as he’s transported via time portal to the planet of Barsoom and taken prisoner by 12-foot-tall green men. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium, who is in desperate need of a savior. Lynn Collins, will play Dejah Thoris, the heir to the throne of Mars’ Helium kingdom. Willem Dafoe is set to play Tars Tarkas, a leader of the Thark race who knows that the only way his people can survive is if they turn away from war, a position that may cost him dearly
Thomas Haden Church previously also said that he’s involved in the project but he didn’t reveal his character

According to Hollywood Reporter, Morton will play Sola, the daughter of Dafoe’s Tars Tarkas, who must hide her softer side from her warmongering race.
West will play Sab Than, prince of the Zodangans who believes he is entitled to rule Mars.
Walker will play Sarkoja, a merciless, tyrannical Thark.
Andrew Stanton (Wall-E) worked on the script with Mark Andrews with revisions from Michael Chabon. Filming starts in November in Utah
JOHN CARTER OF MARS is set to open in 2012 but it’d be rad if Disney’s presentation for Comic-Con ‘10 next year would feature some kind of a teaser for this movie just to get the crowd excited.

MY SON, MY SON, WHAT HAVE YE DONE Trailer

Posted by Rama On August - 17 - 2009

My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done

Toronto Film Festival 2009 is happening next month and one of the movies that will make it debut there that week will be MY SON, MY SON, WHAT HAVE YE DONE, directed by Werner Herzog (Rescue Dawn). The trailer has hit the web, obviously it doesn’t have a distributor yet so there’s not telling at this point when it will hit theaters. It’s a psychological thriller starring 3 Oscar nominees, highly emphasized in the trailer, featuring lots of Ostriches. Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road, Bug) is perfect for this type of character.. disturbed, unstable, scary when he’s made up his mind on committing something. Willem Dafoe is also good playing that type as well but he’s at the other end of the spectrum this time, the negotiator. David Lynch lends his name, that explains the mood of the trailer but does knowing his involvement make you wanna see this movie? Notice the pecial cameo appearance by home of Comic-Con, the San Diego Convention Center.

Inspired by true events, My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done, is a story of ancient myth and modern madness. Brad Macallam, an aspiring actor performing in a Greek tragedy, commits the crime he is to enact in the play by killing his mother. The mystery unfolds in a series of flashbacks displaying the psychological destruction of the killer set off by an ill-fated white-water kayaking trip in a distant land.

Willem Dafoe OF MARS

I’m still in Maui, Hawaii right now, for my best friend’s wedding, sounds like a plot for a movie, I might just write the screenplay but as always, it would have to have a depressing ending.
But I don’t wanna keep you out of the loop, so today, according to Hollywood Reporter one of the most talented, creepy lookin’ actors of all time, Willem Dafoe is set to star in JOHN CARTER OF MARS. The live action adaptation of Edgar Rice Burrough’s classic. “Dafoe will play Tars Tarkas, a leader of the Thark race who knows that the only way his people can survive is if they turn away from war, a position that may cost him dearly”
