Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson are old pals. So when this info came along, I thought it’d be appropriate if I just get some images online via google of them two actually hanging out, just chillin…Apparently, some of their images having fun weren’t that appropriate. Ha! Well, what can you do.. old pals, right?!… Read the rest of this entry »
DEFENDOR Official Trailer
It’s always sad when a movie with awesome potential doesn’t get a fair theatrical release especially one starring Oscar nominated Woody Harrelson who kicked serious zombie ass last year. Via traileraddict, here’s the official trailer for DEFENDOR, in addition to the previous one, starring Woody as an ordinary guy with no powers who believes he’s a superhero, his psychiatrist and a teenager played by Kat Denning are his only friends. Written and directed by Peter Stebbings.
The movie will open limited in L.A. on February 26th and then it will go straight to DVD on April 13th. In that same month, there’ll be another movie about superheroes with no powers that might win big box office money this year, you might’ve heard of it, called KICK-ASS.. Read the rest of this entry »
Newsweek’s Oscar Roundtable: Freeman, Harrelson, Bullock, Bridges, Sidibe, Mulligan
It’s that time of year again, Newsweek got its Oscar roundtable videos, interviewing this year’s nominees Jeff Bridges, Morgan Freeman, Carey Mulligan, Sandra Bullock, Gabourey Sidibe and Woody Harrelson. What I like about this is how relaxed the atmosphere gets, everybody is just enjoying each other’s story and they chat like old friends about what made them nervous, their struggling past, and more. My favorite hilarious part is Bridges’ obsession over Mulligan’s creative toes, just check out the videos after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
For Your Consideration: BEST ACTRESS Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side)
Last month, just for fun, I started my own FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION segment that is meant NOT for the obvious. And by that I mean, of course Oscar buzz will be surrounding Daniel Day-Lewis cause he’s Daniel freakin’ Day Lewis! But what about those overlooked performances this year?! I had Woody Harrelson of Zombieland and now for best actress in a leading role, Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side.
I’m betting names like Carey Mulligan (An Education), Gabourey and Mo’nique (Precious) will be among the top candidates mentioned for this category when the nominees are announced next month. Hoping Sandra Bullock to make it as one of the five would be a long shot but those of you who’ve seen The Blind Side would notice that Bullock has come a long way from Speed and Demolition Man.
I think she’s tried too hard in the past to get some kind of award including making a bad judgment call of taking on the role of Harper Lee in Infamous when Catherine Keener already played the same character in a much more compelling performance the year before in Capote.
But as Leigh Ann Touhy, Bullock is fearless and charming. She can make you give up your turn in line at the DMV. In my review, I compared her performance to that of Julia Roberts‘ in Erin Brockovich, I know it’s a bit of a stretch but these two women remain beautiful and feisty in the midst of trouble, and that is Bullock’s strength. I mean why does an actress have to look ugly or manly ala Monster and Million Dollar Baby or super duper old with all that wrinkly make-up ala The Reader just to get an Oscar?
So here’s for your consideration.
ZOMBIELAND 2 In 3D?
You don’t need to jump to the next page, I’m just going to lay down the goodness info right here for ya because this is something to thank about this thanksgiving season. Clint of moviehole had a chat with director Ruben Fleischer who brought us one of the coolest movies of the year, ZOMBIELAND and Fleischer said that the sequel will be in 3 freakin’ D!
I read somewhere that right after the premiere of ZOMBIELAND, badass actor Woody Harrelson hugged screenwriting team Rhette Reese and Paul Wernick, telling them that he was never big on sequels but if he ever wanted to do one, he’d do it with ZOMBIELAND.
Watching Woody shoot some zombies in 3D would be a great use of the technology, I’m as happy hearing about this as I was when I heard about JACKASS 3D.
But Flesicher said they haven’t cracked the story yet for ZOMBIELAND sequel, we might even have to wait a couple of years before the ‘Rule Book’ of fighting the dead abides again and Woody said he wanted the setting to be in Paris, but wherever the hell it’ll be, I’ll be right here anticipating. Let’ s hope this 3D thing isn’t just some talk or wishful thinking. So nut up or shut up! Yeah!!
For Your Consideration: BEST ACTOR Woody Harrelson (Zombieland)
We’re getting close to award season and there are lots of FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION ads out there encouraging Oscar voters to side with Pixar’s Up or Where The Wild Things Are or certain actors for certain categories. Well I figured I’d start my own segment but NOT for the obvious. And by that I mean, of course Oscar buzz will be surrounding Daniel Day-Lewis cause he’s Daniel freakin’ Day Lewis! But what about those overlooked performances this year?!
So here’s the first, For your consideration.. Woody Harrelson for Best Actor (Zombieland)… Read the rest of this entry »

THE MESSENGER Trailer
The trailer for THE MESSENGER has been released by Oscilloscope Laboratories, via Apple, you can watch it using the media player below. Being the bearer of bad news could be the toughest job in the world. People would take their grief and anger out on you, brings a whole new meaning to ‘don’t shoot the messenger’.
In his most powerful performance to date, Ben Foster stars as Will Montgomery, a U.S. Army officer who has just returned home from a tour in Iraq and is assigned to the Army’s Casualty Notification service. Partnered with fellow officer Tony Stone (Woody Harrelson) to bear the bad news to the loved ones of fallen soldiers, Will faces the challenge of completing his mission while seeking to find comfort and healing back on the home front. When he finds himself drawn to Olivia (Samantha Morton), to whom he has just delivered the news of her husband’s death, Will’s emotional detachment begins to dissolve and the film reveals itself as a surprising, humorous, moving and very human portrait of grief, friendship and survival.
Featuring tour-de-force performances from Foster, Harrelson and Morton, and a brilliant directorial debut by Oren Moverman, The Messenger brings us into the inner lives of these outwardly steely heroes to reveal their fragility with compassion and dignity.
THE MESSENGER opens November 13th, 2009
THE MESSENGER Poster
We saw the previous official photos and now Cinematical has the poster for THE MESSENGER (click on the image above) starring Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster in an Iraq War drama that I hope would give some Oscar buzz to these two very gifted, intense actors. Also starring an equally masterful talent Samantha Morton

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Remake Trailer Attached To ZOMBIELAND
Real quick now, if you’re wondering when the trailer for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET the remake is going to arrive, Bloody-Disgusting said it’s attached to the fun flick ZOMBIELAND which opens October 2nd, 2009. That usually means the trailer will also hit the web sometime that very same week. So it’ll be here too.
Frankly, I could care less about the new Freddy Kruger starring Jackie Earle Haley, at first I thought I’d give the movie a chance since Haley was such a badass in Watchmen but after weighing all the options, I found it not enough to compensate for how lame this remake is going to be.
So on October 2nd, I’m going to watch ZOMBIELAND for one purpose and one purpose only, to watch Woody Harrelson creatively kill the undead.
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake opens April 30th, 2010
