I wanna place a spotlight on three particular characters that have rocked the screen in the past few months. Three badass, craziest good guys whose methods of taking care of business were unorthodox yet effective, whose impressive charm stayed with us long after the movies were done, thanks to the great actors behind them. Zombieland’s Tallahassee, Daybreakers‘ Elvis, and From Paris With Love’s Charlie Wax. What did those three guys have in common? Or better yet, what does it take to be inducted in the craziest good guys hall of fame? Not that they’d give a damn about it. Heads up, this article contains SPOILERS!… Read the rest of this entry »
ZOMBIELAND Writers Want Tallahasee To Find Love In ZOMBIELAND 2 In 3D
Last fall, one of the greatest info of all time was confirmed that ZOMBIELAND 2 was in the works and it will be in 3D. No offense to Cameron fans everywhere but ZOMBIELAND 2 in 3D is gonna kick AVATAR’s blue ass. The awesome writers responsible for this zombie coolness, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, talked to MTV and said that there’s a chance Woody Harrelson’s badass character Tallahassee might find a love interest, non-zombie hopefully, in this follow up… Read the rest of this entry »
Fichtner And Heard DRIVE ANGRY
A veteran and a hottie might join in Nic Cage’s temper on wheels. BloodyDisgusting has learned that William Fichtner (Armageddon, TV’s Prison Break) the bank manager with a shotgun in The Dark Knight and Amber Heard, the drop dead blond gorgeous from Pineapple Express and Zombieland are in talks to co-star in DRIVE ANGRY… Read the rest of this entry »
15 Memorable Lines Of 2009
2009 was full of catchy movie lines, I can’t list all of them, so I’ve narrowed ‘em down to just 15. Some of them were funny, some of them were powerful while others just stayed with you and kept replaying themselves in your head even hours after the movie was done. No offense to Rama’s SCREEN female readers out there, but I chose not to include “Bella, I would never ever do that”. But feel free to add your own favorites in the comment section. Here is my top 15 memorable lines of 2009, after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
10 Funniest Comedy Movies Of 2009
The line between comedy and drama was blurred in 2009, more so this year than ever. So for my list, I only include titles that actually made me laugh til my side hurt, I think you’ll find it very fair. There’s rom-com, there’s slapstick, there’s horror/comedy, there’s foreign language, even bromance and Woody Allen’s type of humor. Here’s my list of 10 Funniest Comedy Movies of 2009, in order of awesomeness, after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »
For Your Consideration: BEST ACTRESS Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side)
Last month, just for fun, I started my own FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION segment that is meant NOT for the obvious. And by that I mean, of course Oscar buzz will be surrounding Daniel Day-Lewis cause he’s Daniel freakin’ Day Lewis! But what about those overlooked performances this year?! I had Woody Harrelson of Zombieland and now for best actress in a leading role, Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side.
I’m betting names like Carey Mulligan (An Education), Gabourey and Mo’nique (Precious) will be among the top candidates mentioned for this category when the nominees are announced next month. Hoping Sandra Bullock to make it as one of the five would be a long shot but those of you who’ve seen The Blind Side would notice that Bullock has come a long way from Speed and Demolition Man.
I think she’s tried too hard in the past to get some kind of award including making a bad judgment call of taking on the role of Harper Lee in Infamous when Catherine Keener already played the same character in a much more compelling performance the year before in Capote.
But as Leigh Ann Touhy, Bullock is fearless and charming. She can make you give up your turn in line at the DMV. In my review, I compared her performance to that of Julia Roberts‘ in Erin Brockovich, I know it’s a bit of a stretch but these two women remain beautiful and feisty in the midst of trouble, and that is Bullock’s strength. I mean why does an actress have to look ugly or manly ala Monster and Million Dollar Baby or super duper old with all that wrinkly make-up ala The Reader just to get an Oscar?
So here’s for your consideration.
ZOMBIELAND 2 In 3D?
You don’t need to jump to the next page, I’m just going to lay down the goodness info right here for ya because this is something to thank about this thanksgiving season. Clint of moviehole had a chat with director Ruben Fleischer who brought us one of the coolest movies of the year, ZOMBIELAND and Fleischer said that the sequel will be in 3 freakin’ D!
I read somewhere that right after the premiere of ZOMBIELAND, badass actor Woody Harrelson hugged screenwriting team Rhette Reese and Paul Wernick, telling them that he was never big on sequels but if he ever wanted to do one, he’d do it with ZOMBIELAND.
Watching Woody shoot some zombies in 3D would be a great use of the technology, I’m as happy hearing about this as I was when I heard about JACKASS 3D.
But Flesicher said they haven’t cracked the story yet for ZOMBIELAND sequel, we might even have to wait a couple of years before the ‘Rule Book’ of fighting the dead abides again and Woody said he wanted the setting to be in Paris, but wherever the hell it’ll be, I’ll be right here anticipating. Let’ s hope this 3D thing isn’t just some talk or wishful thinking. So nut up or shut up! Yeah!!
For Your Consideration: BEST ACTOR Woody Harrelson (Zombieland)
We’re getting close to award season and there are lots of FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION ads out there encouraging Oscar voters to side with Pixar’s Up or Where The Wild Things Are or certain actors for certain categories. Well I figured I’d start my own segment but NOT for the obvious. And by that I mean, of course Oscar buzz will be surrounding Daniel Day-Lewis cause he’s Daniel freakin’ Day Lewis! But what about those overlooked performances this year?!
So here’s the first, For your consideration.. Woody Harrelson for Best Actor (Zombieland)… Read the rest of this entry »
ZOMBIELAND New Posters: Survival Rules
Those of us who’ve watched one of the coolest movies of the year, ZOMBIELAND would know that Columbus (Eisenberg) survives because he abides by a set of rules that make sense. Shootforthehead has these 4 new posters featuring some of those rules. Cardio, Don’t Be a Hero, Get A Kickass Partner, and Avoid Stripclubs, that last part was one of the funniest things in the movie, watching the stripper’s ugly lookin’ boobs just swinging carelessly in slo-mo as she chases after the mouthwatering fatso in the suit.
Too bad there are no posters for the other rules… the one about Restrooms, and the Double Tap where you shoot the zombie more than once to make sure it’s really dead.
We’ve watched the bowling ball way of killing a zombie, and now watch some more survival rules and check out the posters after this jump, don’t forget to click on the images to enlarge… Read the rest of this entry »
Fleischer Is HOME?
After watching the super awesome Zombieland, I vowed to watch whatever director Ruben Fleischer’s going to make next. But I think I may have spoken too soon and now I’m thinking of taking my vow back because Fleischer’s next doesn’t come close to the word awesome.
According to Hollywood Reporter, if the deal is locked in, Fleischer may be the director of the comedy DADDY’S HOME with Will Ferrell and Ed Helms in the lead roles
The story is about a divorced man (Ferrell) whose ex-wife gets re-married to an uptight guy (Helms), hilarity ensues when Ferrell shows up in his old house meeting the new family.
Expect Ferrell playing a typical immature character who screams and yells a lot.
All these three individuals are still loosely attached to this project housed at Paramount, so if lady luck is on our side, there’s a chance this doomed collaboration may not have to happen at all.
Other projects that Fleischer is eyeing thanks to the success of Zombieland are NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH which Ferrell and Dobkin left behind not too long ago, and 21 JUMP STREET The Movie written by Jonah Hill.
I’d rather have Fleischer bring us ZOMBIELAND 2 instead of these jokers they call projects.
