Fans of TWILIGHT Novel thought actor Taylor Lautner wasn’t right for the part, especially the transformation of Jacob in NEW MOON. So there were talks of recast.
I thought he wasn’t right for the part because he tried too hard to look badass but he looks more like a guy who hasn’t hit puberty.
I’ve never read any of Stephanie Meyer‘s books but Rama’s SCREEN reader Violet, who is a hardcore fan sent an e-mail to me the other day saying “The kid that played Jacob, may not be returning, as his part in the next movie will require him to grow a whole lot and gain a lot of bulk.” She sounds like the rest of the fans who also were disappointed by the movie.
But ‘that kid’ named Taylor Lautner is not going to go anywhere because according to Variety, he will return as Jacob in the sequel, NEW MOON, which will start production this Spring.
Summit Entertainment made the announcement and the new director Chris Weitz thinks Lautner is “Emotionally right” for the part, adding that Lautner could portray the character who goes through many changes physically, including growing taller and bulkier and aging 10 years. The 16-year-old Lautner has been spending time in the gym, trying to add 19 pounds of muscle. Somebody ought to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself in the process. God forbid the wannabee werewolf is dead while doing a bench press.
NEW MOON is scheduled to open in theaters November 20th, 2009
