We haven’t seen TERMINATOR SALVATION but apparently the teaser trailer and the latest trailer and the new image have all caused an anticipation so massive, the people behind the project think it’s time to start developing the next installment.
It’s always meant to be a new trilogy but now they’re speeding up the process
According to Variety, Announcement has been made at the recent Dubai International Film Festival that Halcyon Co. executives Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek are developing TERMINATOR 5 with Director McG once again to helm the project.
Here’s what’s interesting… No decision has been made as to where the production will take place, although the Middle East was mentioned as a location to shoot the summer blockbuster franchise.
Kinda makes sense, there’s plenty of deserted, desolate massive land areas over there and the middle-east is no stranger to Hollywood filmmakers trying to come up with the next colossal or epic film… but I’m not knowledgeable enough to assume if ‘over there’ would have up-to-date technology and facility that would provide the ability to cater to TERMINATOR storyline and its need for very ambitious visual effects.
One thing for sure, and this is to remind those of you who might have forgotten.. yes, Christian Bale did sign on to do all three new TERMINATOR Movies so we’ll be seeing him back as the adult John Connor in this fifth installment, and the movie will be released in 2011.
Those two things are for sure.
What’s not sure is whether the distribution of TERMINATOR 5 will be once again split by Warner Bros. and Sony.
As far as TERMINATOR SALVATION is concerned, Warner Bros. is handling the domestic release with Sony handling the majority of the rest of the world, with the exception of the Middle East where the film is being handled by Dubai-based Gulf Film.
Sharing is caring.
