TERMINATOR Rights were up for sale back in September, Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek, who acquired the science-fiction franchise in 2007 for $25 million and produced Terminator Salvation were looking to sell them partially or outright as their company Halcyon Group work their way through chapter 11 bankruptcy. There’s been a development…

According to LA TIMES, Anderson and Kubicek have named Lionsgate the “stalking horse” bidder for the rights after the independent studio offered $15 million in cash plus 5% of gross receipts from any future movies making itself the top bidder. This means any other company that also wants to bid against Lionsgate will now have to offer at least $750,000 more. Yikes! For TERMINATOR rights?! I hope it’s worth it, man.
The deadline is set for February 5th with the new owner expected to be determined by the bankruptcy court at a hearing on February 10th.
Lionsgate is already a home video distributor to the first TERMINATOR movie and TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY.
Word has it Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. which distributed Terminator Salvation, are also interested in submitting their bids. Halycon will still keep the money from Terminator Salvation which last year banked about $372 Million worldwide.
Alright folks!..You got less than month.. are you interested in buying TERMINATOR rights? Maybe they ought to put up a 50% Discount sign or something. Ha! What would get you to buy it?
