The Box

The trailer for THE BOX has hit the web via moviefone. This is that long over due movie by director Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) who previously made the mistake of creating Southland Tales, man that movie was horrible, and I still don’t fully get it.
But judging from this trailer, THE BOX seems like an intense trippy psychological thriller depends solely on whether the characters would dare enough to decide people’s fate, people they don’t know, just so their own financial problems can be solved. It’s a tough decision that I’m sure any selfish desperate human being wouldn’t have any problem of saying yes to in heartbeat when situation got them pushed to the corner.
It’s a bit funny how the trailer uses the same music that was used in last year’s SAW V trailer. Not to mention that THE BOX opens this year on the weekend after SAW VI. By the way, now I’m very curious to see Frank Langella’s face in this movie, seems like he’s got some two-face scar or something crazy going on there on the right side of his face.

“The Box” stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as Norma and Arthur, a couple with a young child who receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which promises to deliver its owner $1 million with the press of a button. However, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world someone they dont know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the crosshairs of a startling moral dilemma and face the true nature of their humanity.

THE BOX opens October 30th, 2009
