THE GAME PLAN, bottomline, is a family movie. If you don’t have a family of your own, if you don’t have a son or daughter to watch this movie with you, then you’d probably feel awkward about the whole thing. It’s good to see action movie star trying to be well-rounded by taking on comedy films, but if what you’d get from The Game Plan is the similar thing you got from… Vin Diesel’s ‘The Pacifier’, then what’s the point?!
Joe Kingman (The Rock) is a successful NFL quarterback living the American dream. But when the daughter he never knew shows up, he would have to go through challenges of being a dad and decide what’s really more important in his life other than endorsements and rich lifestyle.
But I probably shouldn’t heavily compare The Game Plan to The Pacifier because although they’re both about becoming a family man, each has very different approach.
I think Dwayne Johnson decided to do this film for the same reason why Johnny Depp decided to do Pirates films.
They at least want to be in a movie or two that his children could watch without having to worry too much about the content.

The Rock does have good comedic timing and if you’re familiar with his old days as a WWF wrestler, then you’d know that he’s always had a funny sense of humor.
What melts your heart from this movie is the little girl that plays The Rock’s daughter.
I think THE GAME PLAN is a pretty delightful family comedy, it’s much better to wait for it to come out on DVD and it’s definitely perfect for kids’ movie night at birthday parties or for my little cousin to watch at his daycare while waiting to be picked up after school.
