Stand By Me was a classic kid movie, everybody who watches it now would wish they had watched it years ago, to be able to say that they grew up with it.
Second to that movie would be another classic titled THE GOONIES. Man, I must’ve watched it only twice when I was a kid but I still remember that treasure hunting adventure story and Mike, Clark, Data and of course, who can forget the comic relief fat kid, Chunk.
All these years there have been talks about remakes or sequels and every idea and every attempt failed to go further than just talk.
Well, no more of that bullcrap.
According to a reliable source at moviehole, Warner Bros has confirmed that it’s developing the sequel — THE GOONIES 2
Word has it that there are writers on the project but no one knows yet what the script is about. It might feature new child stars but it will definitely involve some of the original cast.
I doubt Josh Brolin would return, he’s a big shot now, too cool for this gig.
Sean Astin, Corey Feldman and ‘Short Round’ could use the employment. And what about the hideous Sloth?
Is the studio even going to hire Richard Donner to direct this one too?
Too many questions left unanswered for now but at least it’s happening and we can all agree that the first movie was a whole lot of fun and adventure so let’s hope that with a great sequel like The Dark Knight, something like THE GOONIES 2 could be just as great or even better.
