THE HOBBIT comes in 2 Parts, NOT in 2 Movies

All this time we thought that there were going to be 2 HOBBIT Movies back to back (kinda like how they filmed Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3)… but apparently that’s not the case. Visionary Director Guillermo Del Toro talked to MTV recently, revealing the fact that it’s actually going to be in 2 parts as in 2 episodes,.. At first I’m thinking maybe it’s going to be quite like the movie CHE where it’s told in 2 parts: THE ARGENTINE and GUERILLA, turning it into a 4 hour movie… but then maybe GDT was saying that him and Peter Jackson and the team of LOTR writers are approaching it with a mindset like they’re just going to write for One big movie.

“The reality is that we stopped talking the first movie and second movie, and we just started taking about the movie – the two episodes, or two parts, as if they were a single piece of narrative,”

“We don’t even call it the bridge movie, we just call it ‘The Movie.’ And this is great. When we found what reverberated, and we found it in one of our virtual meetings – we understood. It’s a movie.”

“We all agree that if we do our job right, it should all feel like a continuous journey. That’s what we’re striving for,” Del Toro said. “You should see a movie that’s five pictures long. If we do our job right, you put in ‘The Hobbit’ and you wind up watching the entire Pentology!”

“I think Smaug dies in the first movie. So draw your own conclusions.”

I have never read any of Tolkien’s middle-earth books, so those of you who had might wanna help me out on understanding it.
But the word is that THE HOBBIT Movie will lead directly into The Fellowship of the Ring but he’s not sure yet when the bridge begins in the story… there’s still time.

THE HOBBIT will be released in 2011, which is 10th year anniversary since the release of the first LOTR movie: Fellowship of the Ring.
