The Invaders

For the past couple of weeks, director Joe Johnston has been heavily promoting THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA by sharing bits and pieces of the development on the upcoming Marvel live action movie. From prepping production design, that they have a short life and they’re going to cast Captain America pretty soon, and about going back WWII, a 98 lbs Steve Rogers, the costume, the VFX and Red Skull as the villain. I mean, Johnston is not Christopher Nolan, Johnston will glad tell anyone what they’re doing so far with the project and how they’re approaching the characters and the story. He also revealed via CHUD, that Captain America’s old team in the comic books, THE INVADERS will play a significant role in the movie…

‘They’ll be in the entire second half,’

Johnston also said that THE INVADERS will be six members strong, he will cast a new comer to play Captain America and then he would be surrounded by notable actors. Kinda like how Steven Soderbergh surrounds Gina Carano with famous actors for KNOCKOUT.

For those of us who are not too familiar with THE INVADERS, here’s how Marvel briefly describes the team’s origin…

“At the end of 1941, as the United States enlisted in World War II, Captain America, Bucky, Human Torch, Toro, and the Sub-Mariner joined forces to oppose Master Man, a superhuman American Nazi who attempted to kill English Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Churchill was so impressed by the heroes he encouraged them to remain together as the Invaders. The Invaders took aim at the superhuman agents of the Axis powers, as well as engaging the enemy on the battlefield.
The Invaders soon moved their operations to England. While battling Baron Blood (Falsworth), they met Lord Montgomery Falsworth the original Union Jack of World War I. He joined their team, only to be incapacitated when Baron Blood shattered his legs. Lord Falsworth allowed the team to use his mansion, and his daughter joined as Spitfire. Eventually, Brian Falsworth joined the Invaders as Union Jack, taking his fathers alias.”

By the way, The Human Torch mentioned here is not the same character as Fantastic Four’s Johnny Storm
THE INVADERS‘ human torch is an android torch initially created for scientific purposes, and he has a sidekick named Toro who has the same power.. bursting into flames when exposed to oxygen and controlling fire

Now I am really interetsed. I can’t wait to see who will be Namor.

  2. Rama says:

Wasn’t Vin Diesel rumored to have been interested in playing Namor?? LOL

  3. Frankie says:

Yeah but I can’t see Vin diesel as Namor. He has the look but not the prestige elegance like always said. “Vin Diesel talks too slow.”

Spock/Syler could be a cool namor since he already had that elf look thing going.

I still wonder who bucky is going to be.

  4. Rama says:

They’re probably gonna give Bucky to Shia LOL

  5. Frankie says:

Shia…no way. I think James Marsden would be a good bucky cause it will also leave the idea for winter soldier if they decide to go that far in future movies
