And it’s official! The scientologist action hero Tom Cruise will return for MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4. According to Deadline Hollywood, the deal is locked in. The report also confirmed previous info that J.J. Abrams who directed MI:3 will NOT be directing this fourth installment, but he’s producing the project…
It was announced last year that Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec have been hired by Paramount to write MI:4 by using a story conceptualized by Abrams, the man that they’ve worked with for many seasons on TV’s Alias.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4 will be Cruise’s next film and production is expected to start this summer and the blockbuster movie will open on Memorial Day 2011. Unfortunately, the report did not come with a logline or an idea of the plot but Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is back as the main character. No word yet if the rest of his MI:3 team would return, it’d be awesome though to have Pegg back as the genius comic relief.
