After so many months of confusing the fans with TR2N or TRON 2.0 or TRON 2.. the official title was revealed today at Comic-Con ’09. It’s TRON LEGACY. Somewhere, Jason Bourne is pissed right now…The panel took place at noon, Kevin Flynn a.k.a Jeff Bridges was there along with actor Garrett Hedlund who plays his son, director Joseph Kosinski and hottie Olivia Wilde, and boy did she look even hotter in person! Wow!
Bridges compared this new movie to the original one stating that back in 81, there was no internet so what you saw was new and fresh, Bridges believed that the same thing is true with this one which will give that ‘pop’
The title wasn’t the only one revealed today, the official synopsis arrived too.
“TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.”
They showed a clip from the movie, showing Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) visiting the old place to find out what happened to his father, audiences were entertained by the 80s soundtrack. He stumbled upon TRON video game but as he tried to play it, he found out there was something hidden behind it, a secret doorway that led to… TRON city.
Another clip that was shown was the same one previewed last year showing 2 competitors on a light cycle race and Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) is the main master who basically allowed the game to end violently.
To make things crazier, they also let audiences get a taste of some cool concept arts that we’ll see depicted in the movie. Click on these images to enlarge. If you’re a die hard fan of the first installment, then some of these images, though newly improved, would ring a bell.
Disney wants to release TRON LEGACY in either November or December of 2010.
