Universal Pictures Changes Release Dates: THE WOLFMAN, NOTTINGHAM, FAST & FURIOUS

Fast Furious

This info’s not as disappointing as hearing THE SOLOIST and THE ROAD got pushed back to 2009 but I think Universal Pictures has reasons that make more sense for their decision to shuffle movies in 2009, Via Variety

THE WOLFMAN, a remake starring Benicio Del Toro as the creature, has been moved from April release all the way to November 6th, 2009 to give the film more of a high-profile release, as well as ample time for post-production. (Makes sense, especially if it wants to be remembered and considered for an award, fall season is the best time to do that)

NOTTINGHAM, the new take on the tale of Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe, directed by Ridley Scott, has been moved to 2010 instead of next year (Makes sense because Ridley Scott himself said he won’t start filming until the leaves of England trees are the right color and that means not until Spring of 2009)

FAST & FURIOUS, the fourth installment in the franchise which reunites Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, has been pulled back from from Summer release to now April 3rd (Makes sense, because it would definitely lose the competition if it was released in the same season as HARRY POTTER 6 and TRANSFORMERS 2, besides.. something like FAST & FURIOUS that has a risk of being lame, deserves to be in April, which is like the transition month from crappy winter slot into welcoming summer blockbuster season)

This year’s welcoming committee was THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM which was released on April 18th, 2008
