I’ve heard some of the weirdest hiring decision but this one takes the cake. First of all, if you think an action movie like last year’s adrenaline rush bullet time junkie WANTED, who would cross your mind as the screenwriter? It took three to adapt the story based on Mark Millar‘s graphic novel and those three dudes have worked on action flicks before, like 3:10 To Yuma and Fast & Furious movies.
So who has Universal Pictures hired to write WANTED 2? According to HollywoodReporter, The man who co-wrote Pooh’s Heffalump Movie and its DVD Halloween spinoff. I kid you not. There have been times when I’d joke around, this isn’t one of those. It’s the fact.. and Ashton Kutcher won’t come out of the bushes and yell ‘You Got Punk’d’ because this is the honest truth.
That writer’s name is Evan Spiliotopoulos (don’t ask me to pronounce it) who will be penning the sequel screenplay based on a story by Chris Morgan Spiliotopoulos’ other writing credits also include Jungle Book 2 and The Lion King 1 and 1/2
Well, at least he’s not going to have Winnie the Pooh do a cameo appearance in WANTED 2… cause that would be awkward!
Somebody should come up with a mashup trailer using audio from WANTED trailer and scenes from Winnie the Pooh episode. That would be the toughest Mash-up trailer anyone ever had to compile.
The director of the first movie, Timur Bekmambetov will return to helm WANTED 2. James McAvoy is expected to come back as well. No word yet on who’s going to be the next tough femme fatale hottie. Angelina Jolie left a big shoe to fill.
