We all know for a while now that WANTED 2 is happening. It’s one of the many inevitable signs of our time if you’re into movies like I am. The man in charge of the screenplay is the writer of Winnie The Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, Evan Spiliotopoulos, I would hate to have his last name. Sounds like an odd choice, right? Graphic novelist Mark Millar whose creation was the basis for the first movie previously defended the screenwriting choice. Director Timur Bekmambetov will return to helm WANTED 2. Actor James McAvoy is expected to come back as well. Those are all the facts so far.
At the time, I thought they were going to find challenges on finding the next female lead to replace Angelina Jolie. Whoever that next femme fatale would have to live up to that and without spoiling the plot, I’m sure those of us who’ve seen Wanted remember what happened to Jolie’s character in the end.
But guess what.. that next femme fatale is Jolie again.
Via comingsoon.net, Director Bekmambetov recently talked to Russian newsite RIA Novosti and told them that they’ve figured out a way to bring Jolie’s character back for WANTED 2. He didn’t reveal specifics as to how that would play out but..
“In July we will start preparation for the film. I think in the late autumn or winter shooting will be performed. The shooting will take place in America, India and Russia.”
Big sequel production.. as big as the budget itself which is estimated to be $150 Million. Let’s wrap our heads around that for a few seconds..
WANTED 2 is now considered the biggest Hollywood production made by a Russian filmmaker. By the way, Bekmambetov also plans on bringing back fellow Russian Kostya Khabenskiy who played the exterminator in the first installment, him and a bunch of Bekmambetov’s crew will return as well.
