WAR Review

WAR
This movie’s action choreography is pretty exciting, it reminds me of Jet Li’s previous film ‘Unleashed’ but way much bloodier. But there’s one thing that upsets me, the ending or conclusion part is terrible. I hate that sometimes good movies start so well and end so badly. It leaves you hanging, not in a way that it might have a sequel but in a way that leaves you saying… ‘What the hell was that?’ And all of a sudden everything exciting about this movie becomes irritating.

A cop is determined to have his revenge on the mysterious rogue who killed his partner’s family only to find that there’s more to the rogue that he ever suspected. In the middle of this bad guy vs. good guy, are two gangs on the brink of war.

Jet Li, who’s going to be seen in a movie with Jackie Chan, has been said to have fist movement as swift as the wind so fast that cameramen tend to ask Jet Li to do his punching motion slower so it can get captured in the film. In this movie, Jet Li is the bad guy and he does it as menacing as he successfully did back in ‘Lethal Weapon 4′. Jason Statham will always have that persona and typecast look from Transporter, Cranked, and Italian Job. The only time he ever looked different was when he in director Guy Ritchie’s movie ‘SNATCH’.

But like I’ve said before, WAR has bloody action sequences and thrilling sword fight scenes. In the end, it’s an okay film, it’s not one Jet Li’s best. If you like Kung Fu movies and if you don’t mind the silliness of Yakuzas Vs. Triads presented in this film, then you’ll probably enjoy WAR.
