Real quick now, since we can’t go past this week without wondering what gig director Danny Boyle might be doing next. I remember NBC’s Today Show had a segment series a while back called ‘Where In The World Is Matt Lauer?’ and I said ‘who gives a damn!’ but Danny Boyle, now that’s a person worth following.
According to Variety, Boyle has signed a deal for 3 more years with Fox Searchlight and Pathe Pictures which both have helped Boyle with 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and the awesome Slumdog Millionaire. That report said Boyle doesn’t have anything yet on his plate but we know that he’s bought the rights to the book MAXIMUM CITY which will take him back to India and reunite with Screenwriter Simon Beaufoy.
There’s always a contradicting info however, because according to LA Times, Boyle’s next project actually is going to be a true story drama about Aron Ralston, the American mountain climber who self-amputated part of his arm when it was pinned in a 2003 back-country hiking accident. Risky Biz Blog said the same thing.
Yikes… doesn’t sounds like a feel-good story to me. 2 hours of just that character alone might be either boring or worth-seeing (Cast Away)
So what’s it going to be? He’s already got horror/thriller, sci-fi, and drama in his pocket, maybe he should tackle a raunchy, crude R-rated comedy or a chick flick for once,… anything but The Beach 2.. just a suggestion.
