Some say Jingle All The Way was the worst Holiday/Christmas movie of all time. I don’t know if I agree with that opinion because the sense of urgency was fun and entertaining to watch, plus it was hard not to like anything that the late great Phil Hartman was a part of.
Holiday movies have been making their way into theaters in the first week of November instead of after Thanksgiving weekend. I feel like Thanksgiving doesn’t seem to be appreciated anymore, Christmas decoration and music are all over Starbucks and not a turkey talk was around. But then again, there’s no such thing as a Thanksgiving movie, is there?
So Holiday movies are usually synonymous with Christmas. Speaking of which, those Home Alone 3 and 4 were dreadful, I never even liked any of Tim Allen’s Santa Clause movies. And what’s up with Vince Vaughn visiting this genre just one year apart from each other? (Fred Claus and Four Christmases)
What about retelling old classic like the 1994 remake of Miracle On 34th Street?
After nearly one month since its release, Robert Zemeckis‘ A CHRISTMAS CAROL in 3D sadly only earned $96 Million domestically. The movie was made with a budget of about $175 Million.
Is it easier to pick out the worst Holiday films because Hollywood never seem to get it right?
Remember Surviving Christmas or Christmas With The Cranks or Deck The Halls?
I think It’s A Wonderful Life is an endearing classic, but re-running it every year might turn it into the most irritating.
What’s the worst Holiday movie you’ve ever seen?
I would think that the worst holiday movies are the ones that try to combine horror and christmas like 2005’s SANTA’S SLAY with a murderous Bill Goldberg dressed as Santa or 2006’s BLACK CHRISTMAS with hotties Michelle Trachtenberg and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Even those babes couldn’t save that film.
But if you’re talking the “WORST CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVER” then its very easy. Its so bad Rama, that you’ve probably never seen it. You should thank god every day that you haven’t. The film is the 1964 SANTA CLAUSE CONQUERS THE MARTIANS. If you have seen it you most likely saw it during the good old Mystery-Science Theater 3000 days. Its actually still video and aired on tv by one of the Turner networks in December. It features a wino Santa and Martians so crappy they put the 1930 films about aliens in the “great special effects” category haha. Oh, and it’s got Pia Zadora in it, too! UGH!
LOL…. ha! I’ve never seen that one.
Santa Clause Conquers the Martians… sounds like a laugh riot.
I’ll check it out.
And yeah, I agree with you on BLACK CHRISTMAS… too bad Mary Elizabeth Winstead was in it,
No… don’t waste your time actually watching the movie. Go to YouTube and type in “Santa Clause Conquers the Martians” and you can see a condensed version. About 10 min long or so. Beats putting yourself through torture for an hour and twenty minutes. haha.
any movie with Santa on it.
I enjoyed Home Alone 3 though, it’s entertaining.
Really? Home Alone 3?!
yeah just watched it last weekend in Vegas with some friends, everybody was laughing hard. well, story wise it’s meh. but we just needed a good laugh, and Home Alone 3 entertained us, so yeah
