Who Should Buy TERMINATOR Franchise?

It really is sad to see that the franchise made iconic by James Cameron back in the 80s and early 90s is suffering from excruciating uncertain fate. Last month we heard the rights for TERMINATOR is up for sale again because Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek, who acquired the franchise 2007 for $25 million and produced this year’s sequel Terminator Salvation are going bankrupt. So what will be fate of the machines that keep chasing after John Connor. Come to think about it, that plot does get old…

According to The Financial Times, the rights to the TERMINATOR franchise will be auctioned this month, it’s a blockbuster franchise not controlled by a big studio.
Speaking of which, some of the studios already expressed interest in the rights are Sony Pictures (2012), Summit Entertainment (Twilight), and Media Rights Capital (Bruno)
The auction however does not include the rights to The Terminator and T2: Judgment Day
Whoever buys the rights will get to make new films, TV series and other spin-offs.

Terminator Salvation was made with a budget of about $200 Million and it earned only $125 Million domestically. The movie itself was disappointing. McG already had a plan for TERMINATOR 5 but with this rights fiasco, we don’t know if anything will be set in motion.
Plus I thought the series Sarah Connor Chronicles deserved to be canceled.
My question is, have we come to the appropriate time to bury TERMINATOR for good and move on?
