That question must’ve been running around the minds of LOTR/Tolkien fans since the announcement that THE HOBBIT movie was going to happen with Guillermo Del Toro directing and Peter Jackson producing. All this time, all they’ve done were making sure the screenplay’s solid, it’s a long process. So the casting decisions have not been a priority until lately. Back at Sundance, GDT told the world that the list has come down to 4 names.. and recently, he told MTV..
“I believe we’re very close now to saying one name,”
One name left standing, middle-earth ladies and gentlemen! Who is that one name? Which actor gets to play the young Bilbo Baggins.
GDT is expected to make the announcement in the next few weeks. I wonder who those 4 candidates were.
James McAvoy (Wanted) was once rumored and so wasMartin Freeman (Hitchhiker’s Guide To Galaxy) or should old Ian Holm who played the role in LOTR return for THE HOBBIT, maybe with a bit of Benjamin Button touch-up to make him look younger?
But who do you have in mind?
According to previous info, filming will begin in 2010 and it will take about 370 days. The first part opens December 2011 and the second part opens December 2012.
