This post is a forum. I need your opinions. I’m trying to write an article this week and I need your help to solve the mystery of why do we feel sad over celebrity’s death.
We don’t know them in person. Most of us will never meet them in our lifetime.
All we know is what we see on the big screen
and yet somehow we feel that we can identify with our favorite celebrities, it’s as if we grew up together with them since childhood.
Ask a movie fan and she’ll say that Heath was a good man, a nice celebrity. But ask her how she knows about it for sure, she doesn’t.
The same goes with Princess Diana, John Ritter, Brad Renfro, even Steve Irwin…
especially the younger they are, the sadder we get.
Why can we associate with them?
What’s the fascination?
A bigger question would be… if Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton were the ones found dead today with pills all around, would we be feeling sad over them too or would we be judging, saying “well.. they had it coming, they were victims of their lifestyle!”????
“Is it considered okay to favor one celebrity’s death and say ‘Good Riddance’ to another??”
What do you think?
