Let me just start by saying I enjoy watching HBO series Entourage. Watching Vinnie, Turtle, Drama, E and Ali trying to get movie deals, partying, arguing about pop culture and insignificant matters while sleeping with every fine woman in Hollywood on a weekly basis is entertaining, but.. I don’t know if I like the idea of ENTOURAGE The movie. According to Hollywood Reporter, there are going to be 2 more seasons and executive producer Mark Wahlberg hinted the one that comes after those seasons is a movie..
I know, after 6 seasons, some might wonder is anybody even still watching Entourage? Granted, it’s got some pointless episodes where the plots just don’t seem to arrive nowhere but when it does deal with fictional Aquaman or how producers, stars, agents works with both big and indie projects, Entourage could be somewhat of a spoof or a mirror of what’s going on in that Tinseltown.
HBO is reportedly ok with the idea of ENTOURAGE The Movie but here’s why I think otherwise..
1. If the movie does get developed, people are just going to keep calling it SEX AND THE CITY Movie but for men.
2. I can handle Drama and Turtle’s stupidity for half an hour,… but 90 minutes or 2 hours?! That’s another story.
3. A movie means stretching and expanding more of the romantic escapades of Sloane and E or Vince and his many lovelife, offering more of that and I honestly couldn’t care less about that element.
4. They might have to kill off a character just to make it movie material.
5. There’s nothing cinematic about Entourage… what like we’re going to have high speed chase scenes or elaborate FX?!
That’s all I have for now but I’m sure I can think more as I go. HBO has been talking about The Sopranos movies as well for years now but nothing ever come to reality, so I won’t hold my breath for ENTOURAGE the movie.
