I enjoyed watching Quantum of Solace, don’t get me wrong.. I thought it was a great transition to bring Daniel Craig’s Bond into the Bond we grew up with,.. no-mercy, womanizer, depends on technology. And I’d watch the movie again and again.
But today, it was announced that Quantum of Solace is the Top Bond movie of all time, earning $167.1 Million and the movie is still playing in 891 theaters in the U.S. The result has surpassed Casino Royale which earned $167 Million domestically.
But Quantum of Solace is not even close to being as Badass as Casino Royale was. And here are my reasons:..
* Casino Royale had a more thrilling, and faster-paced chase scene as its intro. Running after a criminal in Uganda, jumping from one wall to another like it’s nobody’s business and playing with heights.
Quantum of Solace car chase scene in the beginning was mild and not impressive enough.
* It took a while to figure things out in Quantum of Solace, we were taken from one place to another, left a bit confused as to what the villain was all about and what he was after. The villain, played by Mathieu Almaric could bulge his eyes big but that’s about it.
Casino Royale‘s villain, Le Chiffre had a more intimidating personality about him.
* There was a poker game in Casino Royale. That alone was enough to keep some guys’ attention fixed on the screen.
Quantum of Solace had so much action, the plot got neglected and the long walk across the dessert was rather lame and not entertaining.
* Sure James Bond in Quantum of Solace can fight on land, sea, and air, and I’m sure each scene was challenging to film…
but Casino Royale broke a Guinness World Records with that amazing car stunt that had the nice Aston Martin roll 7 freakin’ times in one single take. The stunt was performed by Adam Kirley.
* Olga Kurylenko as Camille in Quantum of Solace was sexy and hot, no doubt, but Bond didn’t get to sleep with her…
Bond in Casino Royale got to romance both Caterina Murino and Eva Green’s characters.
* Quantum of Solace didn’t have any unique torture scene that Casino Royale had when Bond was tied to a seat and tortured in the most cruel and unusual way.
* Jeffrey Wright’s character as Felix in Quantum of Solace gave the impression like he was unnecessary.. his role was more vital and much simpler in Casino Royale.
* Casino Royale is a cooler title than Quantum of Solace.
