Despite the fact that X-Men Origins: Wolverine only earned $179 Million domestically, plus most fans were disappointed by director Gavin Hood’s vision, Hugh Jackman still won the 2010 People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Action Star. Superherohype directed the world’s attention to the interview video at the event’s website, where Jackman suggested that the shooting for WOLVERINE 2 will start sometime in 2011..
“Wolverine’s going to be back. He’s going to Japan. We shoot that probably in a year, year-and-a-half, something like that.”
Jackman is going to unleash his adamantium claws once again after he’s done filming the robot boxing drama, Shawn Levy-directed REAL STEEL this summer.
With filming to begin 2011, we can expect WOLVERINE 2 to arrive some time in 2012.
WOLVERINE 2 is in the works and it’s going to happen in Japan using the story based on the graphic novel by Frank Miler and Chris Claremont . The Usual Suspect scribe Christopher McQuarrie is in charge of the screenplay. The story line will feature Wolverine dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai’s code of honor and respect.
“The master of mutants joins the master of ninjas in Wolverine’s first solo series – replete with romance, intrigue, and mayhem! Our beleaguered berserker’s in Japan on a mission of the heart, if he can survive the Hand first! Plus: the introduction of everyone’s favorite riotous ronin, Yukio!”
